Just had a large earthquake in Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Lasted a good 2 minutes.

Did not last long in Mae Taeng, but a bit of north-south shaking for about 30 seconds.

Two shakes over a two minute period.

Maybe 8 seconds then 4 seconds in Lamphun

My house was shaking, dishes fell out of the cupboards and broke!

It shook up a mundane day in San Sai!!

It was a 5.8 Magnitude at 1108 UTC at 19.66M 99.62E. Bigger than I thought.

Looks like three tremors: 5.8, 5.8, and 5.6.

i,m in san khampheng, was bad here my koi fish went out the pond, all the chandeliers swinging

I went outside in the sala with my daughter didn't know if it was going to stop before the house fell down

so where was it in laymans terms not 11.22.654 co

I mean how far and what direction

I,m not in my car with a navigator

What's the safest thing to do if there's a tremor? I'm in a standard 2-story cinderblock small apartment building, I went down to the courtyard but realized with all the power lines and density of buildings if there was a large quake it wouldn't be too safe down there either. My neighbor said best to stay under the bed (metal frame but flimsy).

Got home to find the wife and car outside. I didn't feel anything kn the bike. We have now had the 'get under the table' coaching so that's that.

david777... With the quake 3 or 4 years back, there were several after shocks a few hours later, but they were of lesser magnitude.
