Rise in required $$$for family/marriage Visa?

Featured Replies

English friend just refused re up on marriage/family visa because of a raise in the required amount for visa...now b 800,000.a dubbling of the current 400,000 for marriage visa.

I am a US citizen here with my family and am 65 yes old and retired.

Are you sure that he applied for a Extension of Stay based on Marriage to a Thai Girl and not Retirement ? Retirement has been 800k for a long time.

I think he was trying to get a multiple entry non-o visa from the embassy or one of the consulates in the UK. There has been a big mess for getting visas in the UK since last year.

He was not applying for an extension of stay from immigration here, There have been no changes for the requirements for getting an extension of stay based upon marriage,

Thanks UJ

Most people here (even when applying for an extension of stay here in Thailand) just use the term "Visa" for everything thumbsup.gif

Just tell your friend to get a Tourist Visa in the UK, and after he arrived send him to Savannakhet Laos, where he can get a Multiple Entry Non-O (Based on Marriage) without any Money to show for in his Bank Account.

I will check again. But he has been living in Thailand for many years. But did return to the UK for a break visit recently for family reasons.
