MJP
Haven't done a Buy Me Now! thread for a while, but I simply have to tempt you all with the new Sigma 50/1.4 Art. Comparable in optical quality to the ludicrously overpriced Zeiss Otus, this has the added benefit of autofocus. Fast HSM drive autofocus at that. http://www.dpreview.com/lensreviews/sigma-50mm-f1-4-dg-hsm http://photographylife.com/thoughts-sigma-50mm-f1-4-art This is still £850, but . . . . not available in Pentax K-mount yet. http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-sigma-50mm-f1-4-dg-hsm-a-sigma-fit/p1552128?cm_mmc=googlebase-extension-_-camera-lenses-_-sigma-fit-_-sigma-50mm-f1-4-dg-hsm-a-sigma-fit_1552128&utm_source=googlebase-extension&mkwid=olap7nzr&pcrid=22190805729&gclid=cjo7g-r3nl4cfseowwodk1iaxa Have a look at what people are getting out of this thing on Flickr . . . https://www.flickr.com/groups/sigma-50mm-art/pool Edited May 8, 2014 by MJP
rhythmworx
Calumet are having opening days this month. If you live near a store maybe you could get to feel one and test drive it. Free sensor cleaning too, if you need that doing. Would you not consider using a k mount adaptor?

sunshine51
MJP...To me Sigma have always made a great lens for the money one paysand...some of their lenses are even better than Nik's or Can's are. I canvouch for that in the case of my Sig 24-70 @2.8 which is sharper than Nik's.Granted there's a bit of distortion at the wide end however this doesn'tbother me one iota. And that's all that one could say "wrong with it".I have Nik's 17-35 @ 2.8 and only wish that Sig had their 18-35 @1.8 on the market before I bought the Nik as I'm not concerned with asilly millimeter difference at the wide end.I'm sure the Sig 50 @ 1.4 will be a winner and judging by the pic belowit's sure to be one... In the mean time...I'll just have to be content with my 58 @1.2 when I need to use it...
MunkyBoogar
I used the previous model Sigma 50/1.4 on my Sony A900 and I loved it. I only needed to make a slight back focus micro adjustment to get absolutely fabulous pics. The color was much better than the Sony 50/1.4, the images were much sharper and the bokeh was superb. I have since move on to a Zeiss 50/1.4 with my A99 but I will suggest the Sigma 50/1.4 to anybody who wants an excellent lens for walk around and low light shooting at an excellent price. fimgirl
Like Munkeybooger I use Zeiss. Have the 35 f1.4, 50mm f1.4 and 85 f1.4. All MMG C/Y on my 5DMK2. Incredible lenses. The 35mm has become expensive but the others are very affordable. But, THE lens, without a doubt, is the Zeiss C/Y 35-70mm. Cheap as chips and even Contax state that it surpasses their primes. And it's a macro to boot.
