Suthep warns broadcast media

5-9-2014-10-43-46-AM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- People's Democratic Reform Committee SuthepThaugsuban on Friday night reiterated his call for cooperation from all TV broadcast media to stop live broadcast of announcement by what he called the remaining power tool of the caretaker government with warning of facing power blackout.

The PDRC was referring to the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) which a state channel, Modernine TV or Channel 9, was raised while he addressed supporters at Government House where protesters seized Friday and camped inside.

He said Channel 9 managed to broadcast live of a CAPO announcement defying the PDRC’s earlier promise between the station executives and PDRC leader.

He told the station not to do again or else it could face electricity blackout.

Hundreds of anti government protesters camped inside all state TV stations last night, including Channel 9. They were told to stay overnight for five days until the task to oust the caretaker government is accomplished.

Protesters set up individual tents inside the compound of TV stations waiting for orders of action if promise is breached.

WoW 4 posts-another newbie recruit from the pro gov supporters club.

Don't you like free press ?? you have free speech on TVF so why not Thai media.??

Storming TV stations and shutting them down are actions supportive of a free press? Wow, drink some more Suthepista Kool-aid.

OK leave them be and stifle freedom, good idea.???

You don't read the article if you think it's about free speech, He just warned them if they speak free, they will get electric cut off.

You Suthep is a terrorist, and he just don't want freedom of speech/press, open your eyes.

I am not pro government, but supporting Suthep means that you support a terrorist, with fascist ideas, and that you dont support the economy but just go for dictatorship and down spiral of Thailand.

You beloved Suthep will shut the mouth of anyone opposing him, also press.

Thanks for you OTT pro rant.

Everyone knows about the gov handling here, channels taken off air etc I have an idea that this NUT is not telling them to shut it he is telling them to shut the hell up with OTT news pro propaganda, otherwise why do people take drastic measures--use you loaf.

CAPO at this point has not been able to broadcast announcements on Channels 3, 5, 7, and Thai PBS. Channel 9 still covers CAPO announcements. Pheu Thai had been also able to get on Channel 11's signal, but it seems that was short-lived. The narrative of Pheu Thai has thus been compromised, and CAPO's increasingly surreal announcements are now reaching a diminished audience. From every conceivable and practical standpoint, the Pheu Thai administration has ceased to function. They can just basically stand still while the courts and public opinion surrounds it. It needs to be reiterated - they have no constitutionally elected prime minister - either through a quorum-filled parliament or the Senate in the event of a quorum-less parliament - they have half a cabinet, they have no legislative power, they have no parliament, and they have no public mandate. And in fact, there is no present path for an election for three reasons - 1) things on the ground are as unsettled - and likely more so - than the previous election. Under such conditions an election could not be successfully held. 2) Pheu Thai has tried to impose a clause in a new decree whereby the EC can postpone the election again if it has difficulties with the poll. Such a clause has never been included in an election decree before, and could be successfully challenged constitutionally. You simply can't have an election clause that includes an optional moving election date. 3 ) As the man picked by Phue Thai was done outside the provisions of the constitution, he has not the authority to set an election date.

In short, the Pheu Thai administration is frozen in a state of paralysis.

Shouldn't all sides be heard by the public? If you're worried about 'surreal announcements', lets start with yours.

It is the opinion of some that with Chalerm and Surapong still at the helm, CAPO ceases to be legitimate.

'stifle freedom' ??? Do you read your own posts?!

Raiding is a no no BUT when the media stifles across the board comments then there are problems.

True freedom of speech says

If the governemnt or any of its ministers can say something

the opossiton or in this case, Suthep has the right of reply

and Vice Versa

To not allow this. :which is the Capo way: is to have a dictatorship

Suthep has no right to force any media to do only his announcments

but under free speech he has the right to demand right of reply

Every day we now see more and more examples that Thakin and PTP are a Dictator Government
