I'm sure you have heard about it, that they won't allow people to do visa runs anymore.

How about us offshore workers, on a 28/28 day rotation? I can prove that I work overseas, all I want to do is to spend my money in Thailand on my time off.

Not married, 41 y.o so can't get the 1 year visa's.

It has been so nice to just arrive to BKK and get 30 days on arrival, wish I could continue doing this.

Any thoughts?

Very good point. Maybe if you show them your work contract, bank statements, payslips or anything that proves you are just to here to spend your cash and then leave may work. For me to get an extension on my marriage visa I need a letter from the British Embassy, that guarantees my income is from outside Thailand, this may also work.

If they look in your passport and see your not border hopping, but legitimately leaving for the 28 days as it says in your work contract I reckon you'll be fine.

Other than that I would say you will need the 6 month tourist visa from a neighbouring country.

When are you back at work? Would be interested to see if they say anything to you.

Although the premise of showing them your documentation to prove your just coming in as a tourist is good one, depending on the Thai and English language skills of both parties e.g. the person coming and immigration, if you start showing them work contracts, etc etc...they may get it in their heads your coming into to Thailand to work, so one could suggest proceed cautiously with that one...as it could also back fire as well...

I personally don't think there will be issues with people who are doing 28's coming and going, but they might ask to see a return ticket out of Thailand etc, you have the required THB 20k finances...which one assumes is not a problem for most O&G guys one hopes...wink.png

I did make the suggestion on the immigration forum that guys doing 28's could look at the plausibility of getting an Ed Visa (extension) for learning Thai, eg you sign up for the Ed Visa, your required to do 4 hours a week, so would have to make up the time when your one your hitch, but been waiting for someone who knows the proper in and outs of Ed visa to comment on whether this would be plausible as to getting a long term visa..

Of course no one wants to do 28 days out in the big blue somewhere and come home and spend time in a class room for 32 hours during their time off, but it may be option

Hi and thanks for that. I must prepare some documents for next arrival. I am in BKK now, off to work again on 27th May. I always use the Fast Track lane when arriving to Swampy, with the escort company. I always thought that the Immigration officers there just stamp you through, hopefully there's less of a chance to be held up there...

Ok I will be back here as soon as I have anything new on this.

Thanks guys.

I have just cleared immigration in Swampy an hour ago heading out for 28 days, I asked the Officer if there would be any problem with me coming back in next month, and he assured me ' nooo problem' , as much as I could understand from him it is because I was heading out international , also bear in mind that it is possible for a lot of OS guys (Nationatily dependant) to have a second business passport, by alternating these you could change your stamps from 28 &28 to 28 in and 84 out.

Great news. I also carry 2 passports, due to my work being in Angola. Might try to arrive to BKK on the other "Angola" passport in the future.

Thanks.

When carrying two passports do immigration officers see that as two people with the same name and two different passports, or are they linked, so that when they are scanned it wouldn't matter which of the two passports are used either one would show up as the same person?

I am not sure of the correct answer to this and for sure they will be linked in the data base of the Country of issue, but I do know that when recently I applied for and received an American work visa on one of my passports , one of the questions they asked was had I a second passport and what was the number of it, this led me to conclude that the two passports are not necessarily automatically linked on all foreign data bases.
