Would that include the caretaker defense minister? PTP were insisting Ms. Yingluck was still caretaker defense minister and only removed from her caretaker PM role.

Anyone know where she and the man who replaced her are? Say what you want about him but he was smart enough to stay away from the meetings Tuesday and today.

Not so much smart as arrogant and cowardly. Sending his deputy instead probably tipped Gen. Prayuth into ballistic mode and may well have triggered his current response.

Dear Gen Prayuth,

Thankx for making an end to this Shinawatra dynasty, now it's time to rebuild the country.

And please do not forget to round up all the redshirt posters on Thaivisa.com, or they will keep hurting the country.

May the Lord Buddha be with you....

An open letter from the Purge Patrol.

The Lord Buddha?

The Lord Buddha was never a fascist.

Fascism seeks to build a mass movement of everyone considered part of
the national community, actively engaged but controlled from above, to seize
political power and remake the social order. This movement is driven by a
vision of the national community rising phoenix-like after a period
of encroaching decadence which all but destroyed it. Such rebirth involves
systematic, top-down transformation of all social spheres by an
an authoritarian state, and suppression or purging of all forces,
ideologies, and social groups the fascists define as alien.

I do believe the ministers will form a government in exile..maybe Cambodia and the world will recognise them as the true government of Thailand. That will p155 of prayuth. Hes getting no easy ride with this coup. He is one of many with his.."name on one" If Civil War is avoided I will be surprised but don dare blame it on the reds...blame it on the army and their paymasters(same people who funded Suthep)..Thailand nose diving into the abyss

I actually think your post is alarming. I don't know whether it is feasible but I do know it could be devastating for Thailand moving forward- and thus- your point. This is why the T Machine might want to do this. I've no doubt that the government that just overthrew the democratically elected government of Ukraine wholly endorses the Thaskin Machine-USA. If there are any unseemly issues such as warrants, crimes, murders, court rulings, etc., the T Machine western backers will just ignore those points, and apply awful pressure to Thailand. They would condone a government in exile. Now I consider Cambodia's former Khmer Rogue leader and Thaskin's friendship in a new light. Maybe filing those Interpol warrants and going on the PR offside early could dissuade them. Wow! Great thought. Thanks

Did I read somewhere tonight that a Order was sent to open the Legality of the Warrant for Thaksin's Arrest?? Opening the door for Interpol's involvement?

I dont know,did you?

Interpol rarely gets involved in political prosecutions, which is the major reason Interpol hasn't ever been a player in the Thaksin-Thailand judges legal disputes that go back to 2008.

While the disputes involve law, they are at their core political disputes.

Interpol looks for cases that involve the real legal issues while putting the political disputes onto the shelf.

I hope the army does a proper job this time and clears Thailand

of all the dross, brings wrong do"ers to account, and it won"t be

easy but try to get rid of the corrupt practices that are bringing

the country to its knees.

Have you ever noticed that the army top are all extremely rich people ?

Not sure if they have that big of a salary.

Clever investing in border casinos is what I have always heard....

It's amazing how many 'newbies' are popping up on TVF offering their expert opinions about everything. Having been members for a few weeks they seem to be fully up to speed on every aspect.

And we all bow down to you, oh wise master, font of all knowledge. :D

Maybe they are new to TVF but been in LOS for a while. Me? I'm a newbie to both.

It is time to kick out the Thaksin clan completely.

Good luck Thailand!

Not exactly the way Suthep wanted it but he is the big winner here. Bye bye Shinawatra Mafia. I hope they get rid of them the right way this time. The method they used last time backfired on them. They left some players in the game who had nothing but ill intentions for Thailand.

I agree completely. There were still a few heads left of the hydra that is the Thaksin clan,

and they were able to come back in a big way and attempt to destroy Thailand, with

the rice scam leading the list. I hope this time Prayuth will be able to do a complete

house cleaning..... Thaksin's older sister, She Who Must Be Obeyed, must be feeling

very sad tonight that she will not be able to get her turn at the feeding trough...

Maybe that is why the Army took the steps they did. When you have the upheaval Thailand has been going through and the ruling party will not take part in working it out. Doesn't leave much choice.

People don't realize that he is a general when he says jump he is used to people jumping. Not cowering.

He is not looking to stroke your back so you will vote for him. He is looking to make Thailand a better and safer country.

Not a bad idea. When you consider with all that has been going on it has still been safer than many big cities in the world.

Just got a TV channel showing them loading busses full of protestors.

I don't think His crimes qualify him for Interpol to intervene. Now if they were for the people he had murdered in his so called war on drugs they would go after him.

Does it really matter how many groundhog days here are - provided they scour Thailand of all the corrupt politicians and murdering scum hanging out of Thaksin a r s e.
What gives you that idea?

Version 1.X.X to Version 11.X.X didn't manage to do it,

So why do you think, Version 12.x.x would be any different?

You're dreaming of tomorrow but as we all know in Thailand, tomorrow never comes!

This time they have a no nonsense leader. He will do the job properly. He has suspended the constitution and you can bet your bottom baht that when it comes back on line it will have been a little changed. There will be a clause that defiantly does not allow a person charged with a crime to run for office and if they are charged with one while in office they will be removed.

I strongly suspect it will be given some teeth. Like no more convicted killers out on bail. Jail time for trying to buy votes or intimidate voters. Fines at least 5 times the size of the bribe for those who take a bribe. Also I would hope that they do some thing to make the police do their duty. This would require a better wage and training. Promotions to be earned.

Just my opinions. I am basing them on the need for these things and the belief that the General has good intentions for Thailand. It is not for his personal gain.

The lightning fast results (weapons caches, arrests etc) after the declaration of martial law lead me to think that the armed forces has had them all under surveillance ever since the troubles started.

Let us not forget that at least since the days of the communist insurgency, the army has been training and deploying it's own sneaky beaky types because Thailand has never really had an equivalent to the CIA / KGB / MI6 etc. There is the secretive Santiban, but they're RTP.

Niwattumrong may have just been lucky, or he may have been given a quiet word to the wise by the army ... "you're just a placeholder and you know it - keep your nose out of this if you know what's good for you".

Nonsense. Interpol won't use your biased view of Thaksin's corruption conviction or your biased judgement on the 15 serious outstanding court cases pending against him. You can consider them all "political" if you want. Won't mean diddly squat to Interpol. They pass information based on requests from member countries. If Thailand requests help in arresting and extraditing Thaksin they will respond. It will then be up to the arresting country as to whether they extradite him or not based on such things as if a extradition treaty is in existence and if all conditions are met etc.

Stop trying to trivialize Thaksin's crimes or dismiss them as politically motivated miscarriages of justices. He's been convicted of fraud, and chose to become a fugitive to avoid serving his sentence. No attempt at appeal, and no attempt to fight all the other charges.

Or do you have any evidence that Interpol have decided to break protocol and review the evidence, court ruling and make their own judgement - all especially for Thaksin?

He stayed away for a reason. Told to maybe by the boss, as a sign of non co-operation? Couldn't be bothered, I doubt. More likely guessed something might happen - especially as he knew PTP would be difficult and obstinate. You don't get where he is without a natural cunning and knowing when to lie low.

You are living in fantasy-land if you think Thaksin will ever be extradited for his politically motivated "crimes". Thaksin was elected democratically, unlike some people I could mention, and the world knows it.

By the way, was one of Thaksins "crimes" appearing on a cooking show, or was that someone else!? (just kidding)

You should see the world media reaction to this coup: total hostility. Condemnation from France, Canada, USA, UK (mildly) etc. This idiot state of Thailand has just shot itself in the foot again. Everyone in the world knows what is going on here except, apparently, the self-deluding right-wing falangs on this forum.

What we are seeing now is a full-frontal attack on democracy. But I cannot see it working. The only way I can see this coup succeeding is if they are prepared to use massive violence. We shall see how this disaster develops...

It's all so bizarre, considering that the solution would be so simple.

Have an election.

Some funny posters here, since when has military rule been beneficial to its economy ?

Don't put too much stock in this helping the country in the long run.... 2006 didnt achieve anything and you cant just deport half the country..... the problems wont go away until Thailand joins the 21st century and grows up.

You are assuming the military is like you and incapable of learning.

They now have 8 years of experience to see where the mistakes were made in 2006 and correct them. You on the other hand have learned nothing.

If you would get your head out of your red shirt news paper and pay attention you will find out this is a no nonsense guy. He is here to do a job and he will do it. Just ask the reporters who tried to play there silly little game with him.

He's a military mind. Do you know a military mind, attitude, demeanor, world view? Why do I have to beggar the obvious to you, that the military is rigid discipline and the weapons of war. Their profession (necessarily) is to kill in the largest numbers possible..

The military here have had, to include the present coup, 19 coups that were either unsuccessful or successful. It's the old Thai principle of two wrongs make a right and 19 wrongs make it even more right.

Military justice is to justice as military music is to music, fascist lectures notwithstanding.
