where to buy a mountain bicycle in jomtien/pattaya?

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm thinking of getting a mountain bike. any suggestions where can I get one ideally around Jomtien?

I'm not looking for anything flashy, just a basic no frills model to get around jomtien.

Cheers

Hi Mike, nearest to Jomtien i suppose is the shop on Thepprasit Rd near the entrance to Soi 8. Theres a couple others dotted around too. They sell some trade-ins and plenty of brands.

Have to say though that my favourite shop is on the other side of town on Sukhukvhit Rd, along from Chaiyapornwitee Rd junction... Numchai, for many reasons but I suppose that may be a tad too far for you.

If you need any help feel free ro Pm me

Big C Extra, Tesco Lotus sell them. For a better selection there is a specialist bike shop on Suk near the turn off to Naklua - I know wrong direction for you sorry.

There was a thread stated in 2010 but most recent posts were last year http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/332211-good-bicycle-shop-in-pattaya/

I see Ungabunga beat me to it.

tnx for the replies.

I'm not looking for a high end model, just something basic to commute around.

Do Tesco/big C sell adult size bikes? I thought they only carry kids models

Saw some decent looking 26" models (8 speed) in Big C yesterday for less than 3000 baht.

My friend got one of those. Was a write off after only a few years. Everything on it is very cheaply made, and rusts easily. Best to spend a few extra baht and get a better model. Numchai has a very good selection of quality bikes.

I would visit the shops on Thepprasit as already mentioned, there are several of them. I would avoid Big C/Tesco because they will not provide aftermarket service, and let's face it you will need it.

Is this the Numchai that sells household appliances on Sukhumvit near Siam Country Club Rd.?

No. I believe it's further down Sukhumvit near the Bangkok turnoff.

It's past Bangkok Pattaya Hospital on the way to Chonburi. The next light after BPH is the road that goes towards the water department, Soi Nongprue. Go past that and make the next U-Turn, they are on the left just before you get back to Soi Nongprue. Right near/under the pedestrian overpass. There is another bike shop a bit further towards Soi Nongprue, but it's a smaller shop. There is parking in front of the store, off the street.

The same one as mentioned by Ungabunga in the 2nd post - but great directions! My gf bought a basic one there last year for just under 5k and that was not the cheapest they had. Great selection and very helpful staff who know what they are doing but maybe too far for the OP.
