The road was blocked when five electricity poles fell down.

PHUKET: -- The driver of a car had a narrow escape yesterday (June 15) when five electricity poles fell down in the middle of the road in Thalang, around 8.30pm, crashing onto his car.

Strong wind and rain caused a rubber tree to fall down, crashing into the poles and dislodging them on Baan Sakoo-Naiyang Road.

The poles crashed into Worrawut Treesuk’s car, damaging it, but fortunately he was not hurt.

The incident caused traffic jams in the area. Local police co-operated with the Thalang Electricity Office and the road was cleared in two hours.

Seen multiple poles fall down along both Patak Road and the road from Karon to Patong. Nothing unusual there especially given they drill a 2m hole in the dirt, plonk the large pole in the hole, and if lucky place a very small collar of concrete on the surface dirt.

One pole seems reasonable. Five poles seems like shoddy installation, as per above. Wanted to hit like, but seems reached my limit for the day.

"One pole seems reasonable. Five poles ..."

That sounds like a line from Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest.

Lady Bracknell: "To lose one parent, Mr. Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune. To lose both looks like carelessness. "
