Visa for Teaching Online

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

if I teach English online in Thailand, but to students in other countries and not Thais, do I still need a work permit, can I still apply for a work permit if it's only me or do I have to set up a company etc..?

Basically, I'm interested in teaching online but I also want to be legal in Thailand so if anyone can advise me on this topic I would much appreciate your info.

Many thanks

You probably do but if you use a VPN so your IP address is outside Thailand and you bill and bank outside of Thailand your chances of being "caught" are virtually nil.

Ah yes, more Thai Visa hints on how to break the law.

I thought if he's not being employed by a Thai, nor a Thai company, he won't need a work permit......Sure I read something like that in a similar thread.

Unless you tell anyone else and run the risk of being grassed up. Don't tell anyone, not even family, as family member could tell someone else in all innocence. In other words, keep it to yourself.
