The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Four Chinese men who allegedly ran an online football betting operation as well as two punters - one Thai and one Malaysian - were arrested in Bangkok recently, Metropolitan Police deputy chief Pol Maj-General Chanthawit Ramasut told the press yesterday.

The suspects - including a Macau resident identified as Choi Yin Tat Andy - were operating out of a VIP sauna in Sathorn area.

They were arrested along with seven tickets worth Bt15 million in betting money, a notebook computer, four computer tablets, Bt243,301 in cash as well as 4,000 Chinese yuan and 30,000 Hong Kong dollars.

Initial investigation showed that Choi allegedly worked as a bookie, taking bets via the website www.sbobet.com, and that the Thai and Malaysian punters had placed bets worth Bt5 million online.
