Flying from CM -> BKK. Does my daughter need ID?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Stupid question time - sorry I wasn't sure where to post this. I have to take my 6 year old daughter down to BKK next week to renew her UK passport. Unfortunately, both her UK and Thai passports have expired, and being only 6, she doesn't have an ID card yet. My question is - will we have problems flying to/from Bangkok since she has no ID? Or can I use her birth certificat/tabian baan for ID?

Thanks for any information.

An expired passport will be fine for the airline.

Being Thai nationality she should not technically need any ID at her age, but in any event the expired passport will be OK.

Actually she will need some sort of ID, as I took my daughter to CM from BKK when when she was 2 years old and we had no id for her, and at first they wouldn't let her on, but we talked them into it, but I had to get her Birth Certificate fax to our hotel in CM

Use that and take her Thai expired Passport also as an ID.

Have a good and safe trip.

We travel a lot by air with our 3y young and always have to show her birth certificate.

I also would inlight of crackdown get written letter from wife or girlfriend as the case may showing you have permission to escort her to BKK. That is with copy of her ID too. can't be to safe.
