Nickymaster
Methinks Chalerm has more than that in just a few of his cars! Chalerm has rich friends that let him drive those cars for free. The Singaporean owner who left two of them with me mortgaged them with a financial company, Mr Chalerm said. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/647249-chalerm-lambasts-move-to-probe-his-rolls-royce/ Edited June 27, 2014 by Nickymaster
Popular Post tomross46
This is not the first time for Mr. Chalerm. He was found to excessive wealth in the 90's, than he went to Northern Europe and waited for everything to cool down.

Even young Akanat who is barely out of diapers is nearly ahead of him. Some report their assets, some don't. Don't worry for Chalerm. We have seen in other threads how Thaksin's aides are rewarded.

Popular Post Thailand
How about the Junta declare their assets in the interest of less corruption and transparency? Well, at least those persons who were on the other side of the political divide that we hear little about nowadays perhaps? I can hardly see all the generals, admirals ,etc wanting to declare their assets.Just as many skeletons as others.
Popular Post EyesWideOpen
I have said this for years. Never say a word, and get a list of the bank accounts of every single person holding office. Or formerly in this case since the coup . Starting with Plodprasop , bring them in for questioning and ask them where the money came from. He would be a great start, as the phrase government salary and the phrase 967 million baht do not go together well. This is the same test the IRS does in America. Meaning if the IRS catches you holding a whole lot of money that you cannot explain where it came from, that means you stole it..... Cannot believe Chalerm has done so poorly at only 171 million baht. Or as a long time political hack who had been investigated for unusual wealth in the past, he perhaps is more clever and has his money off shore. Perhaps Plodprasop does not understand off shore banking....
Popular Post Emster23
Fantastic start. And can hardly wait for report on Suthep and his whole crew. Should be out any moment now..... Followed up by transparent report on wealth of various members of armed forces I am sure. They want to be fair and balanced in order to prove this coup was done for the good of all Thais regardless of political bent. Right?

In money terms, it would make for an interesting comparison.

Lupatria
The real shame goes to the lack of check and balance and to a certain extend to the influential persons who implemented a system that makes the accumulation of such wealth possible while they are in official positions. I wonder that none of them respects the oath they have to swear when taking office.

Popular Post willy1957
These people will be remembered for their wealth, not their performance. That is not exclusive for Thailand, the gab between rich and poor did grow everywhere in the world, this partly because of greedy and corrupt politicians who did deregulate the rules for corporates and Banks who have now the real power.
