  1. As far as I am aware as long as you come back once a year to renew your entry permit, then all the other stuff is irrelevant.
  2. Thanks for that. Hope someone can report if its the same for vehicle license, which i have to renew mine in the next couple of months.
  3. I was at Wat Pa Si last Sunday, really nice place.. Have lived on Thonglor for 15 years and never even knew it existed.
  4. If she desperately wants out, why does she not just give him the ring back?
  5. Sloanes Cumberland is the best i have tried and my go to when in the mood for some sausage
  6. I normally round up to the nearest 100, and maybe put a couple of extra 20's down if in a bar or chilled restaurant. Street vendors i normally just pay 20 baht extra than the asking price. Also give the building management 10-15,000 THB at New Year for the end of year party. This year a maid and security guard won 5,000 each, and they sent pictures of them collecting their prize.
  7. Kimpton Malai in BKK is great... fantastic hotel and have all sorts of pets there, especially on weekend mornings. Your dog would love it if he is sociable with other dogs...
  8. I can get shafted for about 3,000 THB everytime i go to a certain bar there... always say i wont go again, and always go back and the same thing happens:) One day i might learn.
  9. Yeah, possibly but fairly meaningless amount. Maybe max 1000 baht but probably less.
  10. I am of the view that opening any kind of bank account is going to get more and more difficult with the relentless KYC requirements. It costs nothing to keep an account open so why not just leave it open, you never know when you might need it. At the very least no harm could come of it. I am actually the complete opposite to you- i have 2 Bangkok Bank accounts and 2 Krungsri- Now i solely use the Krungrsi ones, but maintain some funds in BB to keep the credit card, not that i ever use it, but its there in an emergency. Actually last week i had to send off payment details for Govt payment, and a day later Krungsri called me to cancel my card due to an unauthorized transaction. Luckily i still had the BB credit card so i could immediately replace the details for the payment. Sorry for the long winded blurb. Personally i just dont see the reason in not keeping them- costs nothing or next to nothing and with online APP banking its very easy to manage.
  11. Yes agree re if no plan to leave you dont need to get stamp. However my advice in this ever changing world would always have that stamp in play in case of emergency. Having an emergency and then having to mess around getting the stamp would be stupid. For the sake of 5,700 THB per annum its a small price to pay to always give you that flexibility even if you dont plan to leave.
  12. Good luck with it. Dont listen to all the negative responses you will get. Just take it slow and steady, dont transfer your life savings to her or more than you can afford to lose... go for it, you have nothing to lose, just take it slowly and be sensible. There will always be an element of finance about this type of relationship so just be open and honest and if she is genuine hopefully she will be the same. It wont take long for red flag warnings if she is a scammer, and if she is just say thanks but no thanks and cut contact.
  13. Yes, you are fine, just need to return before the September date on Stamp and renew your permit for another year.
  14. I certainly dont annually report and have never been told or informed it is necessary. I do at all times leave not less than 3-4 months from my last visit to immigration for stamp in case i need to leave the country urgently. I would certainly not let my reentry permit endorsement expire or get within a few months of expiry.
  15. FFS he has some money and self respect..... not going to get much bonking towing in that piece of crap... needs something with exhausts, no mufflers and a tow truck to put the ladies... that set up is getting now street cred. Not to mention probably flattened in Thailand.
  16. I just get in the car and keep quiet and get to my destination, why on earth would i care what music the drivers playing.. I am an adult i can just sit there and ignore it if its really that offensive. Generally even if i dislike music being played... it is never going to bother enough to go through the rigmarole of asking the driver to change it or trying to connect my blue tooth to the system lol
  17. It's a <deleted> hole full of those that failed in Thailand or were so odd that even Thai based odd job society shunned. You will fit in well
  18. Kai probably the best one I have had.. Feels less commercial than the typical pub ones which just feel like conveyor belts of microwaved boiled rubbish. Personally find none of them come close to a home cooked one.. And generally are bland and disappointing.
  19. Possibly is, there are a lot of weird socially inept/oddballs men around that will pay good money to try and get their leg over.... Look no further than the OP.
  20. They own 100%? Why would they not? Why would they need to give Thais 51% of their business? AWS have invested here, Google have already announced they are investing, Microsoft typically follow AWS. Yeah there is paperwork, but they are big companies with big resources so a bit of paperwork is not going to put them off... thats why they pay lawyers.
  21. You are aware Tesla's largest manufacturing base is in China are you? I dont think Tesla care about Democratic elections. Google have already announced 6 months ago they are investing billions for Google Cloud and Amazon have already started developing a number of data centers in Thailand.....
  22. He is speaking about business, not retirees. What about granting land ownership to foreign investors ...? Foreign investors can own land 100% freehold inside designated Industrial zones where most investors want to locate. Other sectors outside industrial can be affected more, but many large corporate can live with 30 year leases- in fact many of them dont want to tie up their capital in land and buildings. Most of the big hotels dont own the land either nor do they really want to. They just operate the hotels. What about easing the overstay rules ? Its completely irrelevant to what he is talking about for business. Thailand is not a liberal country with a functioning democratic system . Too many coups as well to be confident in investing here ...? Coups is an issue, but underneath the top fighting things plod along in most sectors regardless of who is in power. None of the bickering political factions want to kill the goose that lays the golden egg. He just wants to paint a picture of Thailand that is not ( yet ) true .
