JesseFrank
For my router I need to add a valid time server IP address. I have been searching the web and the NIST and NTP webpages, but however those servers are public as I understand, it looks like they have a secret. They show lines like server 0.asia.pool.ntp.org But I need to enter an IP address in digits, and I'm unable to find one. Anyone can help me out. MJCM
What about issuing a tracert command under a CMD window ? C:\>tracert 0.asia.pool.ntp.orgTracing route to 0.asia.pool.ntp.org [27.114.150.10]
JSixpack
I would, but you've found I lack credibility. It's such an easy question, somebody will be along to answer.

MJCM
My guess is that the only problem with that input (number instead of name) is that it will not use the pool of Time Servers but only the one, so if that Time Server fails you don't have a backup

Anything I can change about ? The IP address you provided works fine.

Tywais
You could try this fixed time server IP at NECTEC (Thailand based) - 203.185.67.115 ... More here - http://www.arnut.com/bb/node/

MJCM
Latest firmware (according to this) is 2.17 Strange that in the manual it says it can. Check if you can run dd-wrt on it http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index Ignore that, can't find it in the database ! Try the Thailand pool which is 4 groups - th.pool.ntp.org or if still doesn't work, the NECTEC IP I showed above.

MJCM
This is maybe a wild goose chase, but what if you set your Windows PC to sync with the time server Pool and input the ip address of your PC in the router ?? So the PC Syncs with the Timeserver Pool and your router will sync it's time with your PC ? Will that work ?? Edit: // Added Ps: Found this We do not guarantee and we do not support the accuracy of the W32Time service between nodes on a network. The W32Time service is not a full-featured NTP solution that meets time-sensitive application needs. The W32Time service is primarily designed to do the following: Make the Kerberos version 5 authentication protocol work. Provide loose sync time for client computers. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939322/en-us Edited June 30, 2014 by MJCM

howto
Heads up... at http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/asia it clearly states "To use this pool zone, add the following to your ntp.conf file: "server 0.asia.pool.ntp.orgserver 1.asia.pool.ntp.orgserver 2.asia.pool.ntp.orgserver 3.asia.pool.ntp.org No, 5 dotted notation will not work "on the router". rakman
Guys, the point of a pool is to provide multiple servers. The method of "pooling" or properly "load balancing" is to redirect the request to multiple servers. They are using DNS cnames to get to different servers in most likely a round robin fashion. Use the pool ip and do not worry about which server responds. If one server goes down, a different server will respond, but the router won't care. And how do you know the pool IP, because every time you do a tracert it will show another IP address, which is part of the pool .
SpaceKadet
What's wrong with using nslookup. That is the proper command to resolve names: C:\Users\A>nslookup 0.asia.pool.ntp.orgServer: ns1.........Address: 10.2.16.10Non-authoritative answer:Name: 0.asia.pool.ntp.orgAddresses: 157.7.154.23 78.100.70.146 89.218.2.66 106.187.99.
SpaceKadet
Nslookup will show you all addresses configured for the hostname. If you use ping or traceroute they will use different options of the name resolver and use only one ip of the pool in round robin fashion.
