a lot of news coming out the UK now

Featured Replies

None of the news is good. Amazing how a change in leadership can change people's perception about reality

New guy has no reason to cover this stuff up anymore. Not his fault, afterall

Pathetic. Taxed to the hilt. A few tiny little tax relief (that mean nothing, as they've gone up this much over the course of a year), then bang a big tax rise to pay for social care.

Why doesn't normal taxation (the highest burden in history) pay for it ?

The waste and sheer corruption in the UK system is astonishing. Go see who gets these inflated contracts at local councils, funded by central government. Jobs for the boys, etc

Waste is shocking.

That hasnt changed probably in decades. All that's changed now is there's no reason to cover it up anymore. The chickens are coming home to roost

Most countries do have this issue.

But my dealings with the local councils and watching how bids are tendered for big contracts made me realise corruption is rife.

The gravy train, especially over planning is a business itself.

This whole 'skimming of the top' is where the UK loses alot of money. Doesn't look like Burnham is going to touch that.

The news I'm seeing is more than just that. Just everything all at once now. Like tge radio silence is over now. Too obvious to hide anymore. And the world needs to see it

Paying taxes is essential for living in a civilized society.

All the illegal immigrant's needs and wants have to be paid for somehow. Food, clothing, housing, education, healthcare, spending money etc., are not cheap in this day and age. Add on top of that the cost of crime; legal, and incarceration for many, it's a bit bigger than "a drop in the ocean."

Also the culture of just "collecting the dole" rather than working is an even bigger drain.

ILLEGAL migration makes up 0.1% to 0.15% of UK GDP. £4 billion to £6 billion yearly against a £2.7+ trillion economy. So take that drivel elsewhere.

2.7 trillion A YEAR amongst a population close to 69 million is more than enough taxation to fix most things.

The gross annual cost of illegal immigration is roughly 0.35% to 0.6% of the UK’s GDP.

Using a mid-range figure of £13–14 billion, it’s about 0.45–0.48% of GDP.

This is a noticeable but not catastrophic percentage on its own.

However, because these costs are concentrated in certain areas (housing, local councils, specific towns), the local impact feels much larger than 0.5% of national GDP.

Every pound spent on accommodating and supporting people who entered the country illegally is a pound that cannot be spent on British citizens, infrastructure, tax relief, or other public services. This is why the issue is so politically charged — it’s not just about numbers, it’s about opportunity cost.

I am absolutely no racist! I have a lot of UK friends. The only thing is that to many are giving the Commonwealth a bad name, so therefore it´s running around so much info on a daily basis, and that is sickening!

White on White racism? racism?

There is another bit to add to your calculus' agree it's all a bit hard for accuracy as .gov don't want you to know.the real amount🤔

£10.1 billion annually on Universal Credit (UC) payments to foreign nationals. This constitutes 16.5% of the total £61.2 billion UC budget, meaning about £1 in every £6 spent on the benefit goes to households with at least one non-UK or Irish citizen. [1, 2]
