Be aware of tax on the insured amount when landing in the USA.

Why not do what the gem traders do. Go to the Jewellery Trade Centre, Galleria entrance next to the Holiday Inn on Silom road and ask around. Peole are very friendly there. There are also courier companies located in the building as well as a post office.

Personally I would just send by Post Office recorded delivery package post and complete declaration form as as a metal ring value 25 USD.

I have sent many rings like this to New Zealand sucessfully, but not same value as yours.

Check with this security company.... They have a 4 in their name.... It's before first coffee.... But they handle shipping small and expensive stuff around the world.

Their rates for your weight is the min charge, $100USD (Upto incl 1kg) to USA for up to $5000 USD insurance. They are jewelry specialist apparently. Can not personally recnmend them though.
