They'll be introduced as the older notes are replaced. The Baht 500 and Baht 1000 notes tend to last longer than the 20 and 100 baht notes because they are handled less in markets etc. So the replacement of the 20's was pretty quick as the banks turned in soiled, worn and torn notes.

The old 500 baht note (along with the old 20's) remains valid for use, so the new notes will appear as needed over time. If you want the new notes, there are dealers in Bangkok on Charoen Krung Rd near the main post office who will undoubtedly have them for sale at a premium for collectors ... like this Bangkok dealer on eBay:

He didn't point at anyone with his finger and he didn't mention anything about hobbies.

I've had loads of the new 500 baht notes. Try an ATM or a different bank. I haven't seen any old 500 baht notes recently. All new.
