XBMC as an audio player

Ever since I purchased my Minix Neo 7 android box I have been looking for suitable sw to play music

Most offerings do not see the usb disks :bah:

or have trouble playing complete folders, without fiddling to set up play lists

(My main interest is classical music and I do not want to have to start every movement of a symphony manually)

Recently I have started using XBMC as my video player and am very happy with it,

so I decided to see how it managed with music

I was delighted. It handled every FLAC file that I threw at it:

192khz

96khz

88khz

44khz (standard cd format)

It even correctly decoded a sample of multichannel FLAC

Start at the beginning of a folder it will play right through without any intervention needed. :D

My compliments to the writers of this excellent software

I use it on my Android TV box plugged into an external DAC connected to my HiFi. This way with the YATSE remote control on my Android tablet I don't need my TV on and it has now completely replaced my old and now defunkt Logitech Squeezebox. smile.png
