Gatorade Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I want to avoid having unsightly wiring for one of my car speakers and a dashboard video recorder so I would like to have the wiring fitted behind the trim. There used to be a small car audio shop in Maenam near the Post office which were happy to carry out small jobs like this but appear to have moved on. I'm not happy or competent to do this work myself and would be grateful for any leads regarding audio shops. around the Bang Rak, Maenam, Bhoput area who might be willing to carry out such a job.
julesandmartin Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Maybe a little to late to help you if you have already bought but there are some great free dashcam apps available for andriod. With a good quality smartphone you get the benefit of HD recording and Google Maps navigation with just a simple screen suction holder and no wires at all (assuming the phone is charged!)
samuijimmy Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 There is another shop in Maenam, at Soi 3 or is it Soi 2? (I am having a senior moment!) James Audio ....on the corner, on left side at Soi corner, as you drive into Maenam from Bophut..... been there for years.... they maybe able to help.... (?)
Rooo Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 The shop just past the post office on the right hand side heading towards Nathon is still there. Is that the one you meant? He does jobs like you require & at ver reasonable prices.

I am curious. Which applications are you referring to for Android? I am interested in a camera for my car, but I haven't bought one yet. I already have a suction cup for the phone. I never considered that there was probably an application for my needs. However, I use an iPhone. A lot of the time, there is an iOS version of the application. Which apps have you had success with?

I use AutoGuard available as a free app from the Google Play Store. Its free and fully functional, you allocate an amount of memory you dedicate to to recording and once full it will start to overwrite from from the beginning so you don't lose your most recent recordings. You also have the option to 'protect' an incident from overwriting, upload automatically to YouTube and a nifty sensor that detects an impact and stops overwriting just in case you are knocked out. There is a payable upgrade that allows you to use both forward and rear cameras in your phone if you so wish.

Afraid it's a bit late for me to use the Android App solution. I would have thought that it would be necessary to plug it into the battery for charging as I think having the Android phone on video all the time the car is running might be a fairly heavy drain? It does sound very good though, perhaps a little awkward to switchover to make or receive a phone call?
