I have a non-immigrant visa with re-entry permit. I will be getting a new passport overseas.

Can I re-enter with the new passport(no stamps inside) and the old passport which has the visa and re-entry permit. Do I then have to visit immigration to transfer all of the stamps to the new passport.

You just show both passports on entry and you will to stamped into the country up to the date the re-entry permit is valid to in your new passport.

You would only need to go to immigration to have the stamps transferred over if you have an extension of stay (it is not a visa) you obtained from immigration.

If you only have a re-entry permit for non immigrant visa entry you could stay up to your permuted to stay date given on entry unless you were able to apply for an extension of stay.

If I can keep this topic alive. I have exactly the same thing, however:

My old passport will have a validity of just under 6 months when I return to Thailand (expiring 20 Jun 2015 and me arriving in Thailand on 3rd Jan 2015). I think that makes the visa invalid. Therefore, entry using that visa and my new passport would be impossible. Any experiences on this at all?

Any advice on this would be great. Pretty urgent!

You just enter Thailand with both passports. Immigration at the airport will stamp you in on the new passport and tell you to visit your local immigration office to transfer the stamps from old to new passport. You will need an embassy letter regarding your new passport for this.

The validity of the passport is no problem. Your passport must be valid for the intended duration of your stay, in essence at least till the end of the current permission to stay.
