If you're born a Jew, you're a Jew. It's not the same thing as Christian, Muslim, or Buddhist. It's like if you're born a Kurd, you're a Kurd. You can't grow up and decide not to be a Kurd. You could, still a Kurd, choose to not participate in Kurdish society. Nobody is forcing Jews to identify as what they are if they choose not to. But in objective reality, they are whether they choose to acknowledge it or not.
