Just discovered this devise and it seems like exactly what I need in traveling back and forth between 3g here and 4g in the civilized world for my notebook etc.

Wondering if there is any one model that can do both?? battery operated of course. And also wonder if they perform better than the standard aircard/dongle??

Please inform me in 'dummie' terms...........

thanks in advance.

Yes, great devices.

As you say, the 3G/4G device will need to be compatible with the mobile carrier in the countries you frequently visit.

Easiest if the device is SIM based and not tied (locked) to a mobile carrier service, this way you can purchase a SIM/Service as needed in each country.

Find out what BAND(s) [Frequency range] each of your mobile carriers utilize for 3G and 4G service (ie: 850, 900, 1800, 2100, . . . )

The device you choose will need to work in the same 3G or 4G band. Or you can have multiple MiFi* (Portable or Pocket WiFi) devices as use as needed.

* In many countries "MiFi" is a restricted trademark owned by a single manufacturer, so other 'names' will be used to describe similar devices
