jaideeguy
Just discovered this devise and it seems like exactly what I need in traveling back and forth between 3g here and 4g in the civilized world for my notebook etc. Wondering if there is any one model that can do both?? battery operated of course. And also wonder if they perform better than the standard aircard/dongle?? Please inform me in 'dummie' terms........... thanks in advance.
RichCor
Yes, great devices. As you say, the 3G/4G device will need to be compatible with the mobile carrier in the countries you frequently visit. Easiest if the device is SIM based and not tied (locked) to a mobile carrier service, this way you can purchase a SIM/Service as needed in each country. Find out what BAND(s) [Frequency range] each of your mobile carriers utilize for 3G and 4G service (ie: 850, 900, 1800, 2100, . . . ) The device you choose will need to work in the same 3G or 4G band. Or you can have multiple MiFi* (Portable or Pocket WiFi) devices as use as needed. 3G UMTS 3G HSDPA & HSPA+ 4G/LTE 4G LTE/E-UTRA * In many countries "MiFi" is a restricted trademark owned by a single manufacturer, so other 'names' will be used to describe similar devices

RichCor
As casualbiker states, full link speeds of 42Mbps for 3G/HSPA+, and another ThaiVisa members reports getting 52Mbps off LTE with their iPhone. AIS is conducting limited-area field testing in BKK with a 4G LTE 100Mbps network. A speedtest posted last year on True Move LTE showed 37/7 Mbps Conditions that will affect mobile data connection throughput on Network Speed - the speed the phone connects to the tower Backhaul speed and contention - the speed the tower communicates with the provider's hub, and simultaneous/concurrent users Contract Speed - the speed your contract allows FuP Speed - the speed your contract falls back to after your Time/Data allotment is exhausted Local Peered Internet - connection points with locally hosted data centers Local Internet - connection points on within or near Thailand International Internet - all connections relying on use of an International Internet Gateway and
