Is emergency US Social Security help possible at USCIS?

Featured Replies

About 10 months ago we left Thailand for a six-month fly fishing trip to NZ, planning to head on to Portugal for a long-term stay. Accordingly, I asked that my US Social Security direct deposit to the BKK Bank be suspended untill we resettled. I did that once before, and a delightful Filipino woman handled it all by email, and she handled the resumption of payments by email from the Asian Section of the Social Security office in Manila.

This time in NZ, our plans changed, and we returned to Thailand. I emailed the delightful Filipino woman, and she said she was no longer handling this area, and she gave me the email address of her replacement.

I very politely emailed him a few times with the simple request to resume direct deposit to the same BBK Bank account. Finally he emailed a form to fill out and mail to him. It had a few blanks for name and mumber, plus two blank pages to hand write a description of my problem. He said he would forward it to Baltimore for them to decide how to handle the problem.

I have the feeling that forwarding to Baltimore is not desireable. However, I snail mailed the form to him, registered with a return card. That was seven weeks ago, with no card returned. He does not answer emails.

I have not received any payment for 10 months, and the future of payments looks bleak. Actually, the only problem I am having is him.

I doubt it, but will the USCIS give any help?

Call the office in Manila and tell them it is an emergency that you get some money now. Don't email. Call.

USCIS (United States Customs and Imigration Service, formerly known as INS, is a completely different government branch bureau than U.S. Social Security Admin. I don't think it is possible for USCIS to do anything in regards to social security...I would contact social security or potentially the U.S. embassy (maybe)...USCIS handles immigration to and deportation from the U.S.
