PATTAYA:-- In the early hours of Thursday a team of officials from the Thai Navy, Police and District Office, inspected the businesses and security situation on Walking Street in South Pattaya.

The visit was prompted by a number of video clips posted on social media platforms over recent months which seem to depict various incidents which have occurred on Walking Street, including acts of violence.

Taking the long walk from one end of Walking Street to the other was the Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, Khun Ronagit, Senior Officers from the Thai Navy based in Sattahip, Banglamung District Licensing Officials, Tourist Police and Pattaya Police Officers.

These inspection tours are now common. Additionally, there is a new and nightly presence in Walking Street of Soi 9 police station officers along with Thai and Foreign police volunteers from 8pm to 6am to augment Tourist police and their volunteers, City Hall police and other groups. This is all under a recent effort to make the area safer and to offer more assistance and advice to tourists.

Is that your 'observation'?

Is that what you have been officially informed?

If you were 'officially informed' ... in what capacity was that to you as a person, as a resident as Tourist Police?

I still don't understand why there is no police presence along beach road at night. Two cops walking the promenade all night would be a great and inexpensive deterrent to crime. And there is much crime along beach road, as well as many tourists. Is this that difficult for the city to understand?

It is something that I have been involved in and thus witnessed and, no, I am not connected to Tourist Police.

The good thing is, they obviously didn't find anything untoward or illegal. Shouldn't we all be grateful for that?

I just hope they now come over and clean up the Soddom and Gomorrah that is the darkside.

Thai Visa mods know and see all.

I am sure on their visit the did not see "stoned out of their minds", ladyboys, sexually assulting male passers by while picking their pockets, they ought to come back alone and incognito, I am sure when they find their wallets missing things will change in Pattaya.

The usual, meaningless, "Going through the motions".

Remember, Pattaya has a good image for it's tourists according to the City Hall.

Really couldn't make this stuff up.

They walk through, they see the trafficked kids running about trying to sell flowers and pick pocket people, they see the trafficked Cambodian beggars, the illegal goods, the drug dealers, and night after night, do nothing. NOTHING. Like the Mayor taking pics with the jet skis, all of this is a dog and pony show to pretend they are doing something and get their names and photos in the press.
