Have a 4 year old Sportivo. It has done 130,000km. Yes I can relate to the mutton dressed as lamb comment (I'm such a poser when it comes to carsbiggrin.png) and it certainly has a hard ride. I've got used to that now.

The most worthwhile additions to the basic diesel is the full-time 4 wheel drive, which maybe you can get with an intermediate model. Not because I go off road, but because it gives great stability to the vehicle in rain and wind storms. Feels rock solid. Biggest disappointment which they have probably solved by now - the worthless DVD player in the console and the lack of a USB hub for playing MP3s (you can get accessories to give a sub-standard alternative via the radio and no doubt I could have got a vehicle electronics specialist to do a better fit, but I could not be bothered).

As far as I know the Sportivo has no performance improvements in terms of speed/acceleration (hence mutton), but I'll leave the geeks to correct me.

Your right it's the same power set up just a different suspension seats s/wheel + a few more that I can't be bothered to tap in. Saying this as you have said it does handle well if you decide to have a few upgrade's done on the motor.

I don't know what DVD player you have but my one has an input for a USB not that I have ever used it.

They have seemed to change their DVD set up several times over the last few years.

I am into my third Fortuna (last year mod top model), I sell them at about 65-80ks and get a great trade/sale each time. Reliable and hold their value well.

Haven't Toyota got a new platform / upgraded vehicles coming out at the end of the year ?

attachicon.gifbuffy.jpg

They don't seem to be the same car no foot step or roof rack ???

The pic I wanted was the maroon ride but two pics come up in the link, but the new model could either or neither...smile.png

So the paint job shown in the links is supposed to make them discrete and hides them away from prying eyes???cheesy.gif.pagespeed.ce.HaOxm9--Zv.gif

I would keep mine til death - of one of us - if the new model does not have roof rails. Can't live without the ability to put my (Thule) roof box on for extra carrying capacity when on extended family holidays (car full of kids) and going hashing (car full of beer and muddy hashers). I would also miss the quizical Thai looks and tentative questions about whether it's a boat!

In addition to the current Fortuner there is now also a new special Fortuner it has a different body design and some new changes inside and it is called ... "Special New Fortuner  TRD  Sportivo".

Toyota will only create 900 of them, about 400 have so far been sold, over several years in the  past I have bought totally three top Fortuners and all of them have been very good vehicles.

Three weeks ago I did purchase this special new Fortuner and the costing price is 1,561.000 - Bt

delivery will take place in about two months.

I agree with you, Fortuners have no problems, the 3 (a) Fortuners I have sold were between 2 and 3 years old and were still in top condition inside and out, and no doubt your 5 year Fortuner is still in top position.

I sell all my cars (I have several) after 2 or 3 years because I like the arrival of new car designs, hence the ordering 2 weeks ago of the new special "Fortuner TRD Sportivo".

Many people in my Mooban are aware of this and they ask that they want to buy them when I want sell them and they have done this several times the reason they want to buy them is the costing will be 40 % to 45 below the original selling price and they know the cars will be same inside and out

as new.

Toyota build quality shines through in a vehicle that can deal with all conditions and doesn't start rattling and squeaking after a couple of years....thumbsup.gif

Toyota has launched a limited edition version of the Fortuner TRD Sportivo. The car is priced **********  and is limited to only 400 units.

It is based on the TRD Sportivo 4x4 manual variant and gets dual-tone front and rear bumper spoilers, a new grille with a TRD badge, a rear roof spoiler, TRD badging on the sides, and a TRD badge on the rear.

There are no changes to the mechanicals.

The Fortuner TRD Sportivo is available only in two colours – Super White and Silver Mica Metallic.

I took my Vigo in to book a service earlier this week and met the usual sales guy I have seen. I asked him about the limited edition Sportivo and he looked little confused and pointed me to a brochure of the current Sportivo that will still be manufactured until April next year. He also showed me a photo of a " new" Fortuner ? which was still on the production line.......and I was told this will be available mid 2015.
Anyway, I think I am going to take the plunge and buy the Sportivo and keep that for a few years. It looks ok, Auto transmission and 3l diesel. I have looked at other options, but the imported models are just silly money IMHO. The Harrier, Lexus, VW - crazy and I don't think are worth spending even + 20% above the local cars! never mind double ++!!

There are only two colours on the new designed Fortuner TRD sportivo as you stated, but not in silver Mica colour as you mentioned, the two colours are > "White Pearl CS (070) - and Black MICA (209)" <

The White Pearl colour Fortuner is priced at 1,561.000, --- and the Black MICA car is priced 1.549,000.

the difference is 12,000 more for the White Pearl colour.

I ordered the White Pearl colour Fortuner one month ago I was told that Toyota will only manufacture 900 of those cars and that 400 (plus) have already been sold, and my new Fortuner will arrive in about one month from now.

I am supposed to be meeting with Toyota tomorrow in Greater Pattaya to see if we can agree something. It sounds like there is very little scope for negotiation on the price, but can you share what freebies you managed to negotiate with them ?
I actually want the black version, but that apart, I doubt that there will be any great difference in terms of what they will throw in with the deal?
Thanks.

Toyota did offer seven free items for my new TRD Fortuner ordering, they are...

Car tax for one year, basic Insurance for one year, Window side visions, Window colour for sun protection, the number plate, and a full tank of diesel.

Thanks for that. Have they really offered you a new car within 1 x month ? the guy at Toyota told me it would be more like 2 x months?

As I mentioned before I ordered the car one month ago and the car will arrive at the end of this month because I was told that it would take 2 months for the car to arrive.

There is of course no guarantee of it and the car arrival could take a little longer, perhaps 1 or 2 more weeks, nevertheless, one has to wait for it.

It seems like your a tougher negotiator than I am! No free tax or plates in Pattaya. A couple of free carpet mats and ". Knit one pearl one " tissue cover box - no idea what that is for BTW.

Going back on Friday to make a decision......but still not found anything that I consider better at the moment !
