usa entering tourist exempt staying 45 days with 2wk cambod.

With all that is going on in Thailand I have this question? I wish to enter Thailand through BKK with exempt tourist visa. Stay 2 weeks in Thailand. Travel to Cambodia PNH and travel around for 2 weeks.  Finally returning to Thailand and departing for USA after 45 days.

I have done this about 3 years ago but the rules have changed and want to be relatively sure before buying my air ticket from USA to BKK.  My trip would start within the next 2 weeks.

For the crossing to Cambodia I am thinking of going overland from Pattaya to Phnom Phen.

Worried I might not get back into Thailand from Cambodia since 30 days will have passed since arriving.

You can do that however the airline may refuse to board if you don't show a return ticket within 30 days, or visa.

Would it matter if I went airlines all the way.

USA to BKK stay 2 weeks.

BKK to PNH 2 weeks

PNH to BKK 2 weeks

BKK back to USA.

Got any ideas?

That is fine, it satisfies all requirements. You can also get an E-visa for Cambodia, it just saves one passport page.
According to most travellers, PP isn't a great destination, but check yourself.

The flying you list is a good plan but I would go to Vietnam instead of Cambodia. Flights to Saigon (HCM) very affordable, good place to visit and travel around from. Hanoi is good visiting but less flights.

get a double entry visa and not risk it

or a single for ur first entry than the visa exempt for ur second.

Cambodia visa at Koh Kong and than up to PP, will set u back 1,000 baht

or via Poi Pet, ( again 1,000 baht)

evisa will cost ya $30 as well

2 weeks in PP is 10 days to long for most, although i lived there for 8 months

why not fly into SR an than bus down to PP and than make ur way back to Thailand overland or fly back?

If this is AFTER oct 1st, Cambodia tourist visa goes to $30 to expect the land borders to go to 1,500 baht

If you're going to Cambodia, I'd suggest Siem Reap as Angkor Wat is one of those must-see places.

OP - if you are reasonably close to a Thai Consulate or Royal Thai Honorary Consul General's office ... then consider getting a Single Entry tourist visa ... good for 60 days in Thailand and can be extended at the local immigration office for 30 more days... This would give you lots of flexibility in your touring plans - plus with a visa return or onward flight tickets are not required ... You then have more options - go out - renter under Exempt --- lots of timing flexibility

The OP's travel plans fit well within the current guidelines for visa exempt entries.

The only problem he had was the need for a ticket out of the country during the 30 days after arrival. He has asked about flying out and posted that schedule which is  well within the rules.

There is no need to get a tourist visa.

ubonjoe - you are technically correct as usual .. but my advice goes beyond being technically correct ... OP ... my suggestions - recommendation for getting a tourist visa was suggested in the vein of traveling with a contingency plan in mind... that is providing yourself with a plan 'B' and the time to execute it ... should plan 'A' not go as expected.  Example: I have a friend in Bangkok right now who - against my advice and that of others - came to Thailand using an Exemption (of visa) on arrival ... He too had planned on visiting Cambodia.  However, he chose to get some serious dental work in Bkk... suffice it to say ... the recovery turned out to be much more involved than he expected and he is feeling low ... So now he is faced with getting a medical extension of stay, or a couple of other options... Had he entered Thailand as advised with a visa - he would not have to do anything except relax at the condo pool... but instead he HAS TO DO something else to be allowed time to convalesce here.  And he does not feel physically well enough to do any of that -- except he has to do it now...  Bottom line 'stuff happens' interrupting the best laid plans ...   Have a great time in Thailand and in Cambodia ... I just recommend creating a contingency plan when travelling half way around the world ..."stuff happens"...

Would it matter if I went airlines all the way.

USA to BKK stay 2 weeks.

BKK to PNH 2 weeks

PNH to BKK 2 weeks

BKK back to USA.

Got any ideas?

Just to reiterate what ubonjoe and I were saying, it would be wasted time and money for you to get a tourist visa. Even if you will not want to take any side trip, you will be able to obtain a 30 days extension in country.
