Koh Samui information

Hello members,

I will be going to Koh Samui in November, but before I book a hotel I would like some information from the TV members who have either traveled to or live in Koh Samui.

Do I have to fly/drive from Bangkok?

Where are the best places within Koh Samui for bars, fun, beaches, hotels etc.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Each to their own.

The journey, drive and ferry from BKK to Samui is around 11-12 hours depending on route and traffic. Far better to fly.

Chaweng is probably the busiest resort on Samui with lots of bars, clubs etc. November will probably be a little quieter, (the lull between half term and the Christmas holidays), but others might disagree with me.

But you might get to see Loy Kratong Festival which is 7th November this year, if you are interested.

If you have limited time, I'd fly.  Really easy the airport on Samui is really cool.  I like Chewang.  Great beach to walk on and pretty much everything you'd be interested in is right there.  But, if you like very quiet beaches, then I'd maybe try something like Mae Nam maybe?  Still a great beach, but much quieter.  Unfortunately, if you do stay there, having your own transport might be good.
