On-line Tefl Courses

Featured Replies

Hi

Anybody ever

1) Completed (and passed) an on-line TEFL course

2) Got a teaching job in LOS solely on the back of this (ie no degree).

Looking briefly , they seem to be an easy and flexible way of getting

the cert and fees compare favourably with the classroom based equivalent.

:o

^ No. But a mate did completed (and passed) an on-line TEFL course & get a job (several in fact). But then he did have a degree.

But I have to admit to mercilessly pulling his leg over the fact that he did a on-line TEFL. :o I'd question the value of it, given that you don't actually get to do any real teaching, with some sort of observation & critique. Still, it was realatively cheap & he's happy.

Do a search mate on here as there's already info about this.

Better than nothing I s'pose!

I employ teachers. I wouldn't employ a teacher with an online TEFL. Observed teaching practice? Feedback? Peer observation?

I know several people who were teaching without degrees, usually in small private language schools rather than state schools. Two of those did an online TEFL course to improve their teaching methods.

I too did an online TEFL which although wasn't great, was probably still of some benefit and, I believe, worth the money.
