PATTAYA:--On Friday Morning, a team of officers from the District Office along with members of the Royal Thai Navy arrested a 46 year old Motorbike Taxi Driver accused of extorting money from drivers around the Central Pattaya area.

Information was given to the team relating to the driver by a number of other drivers in the area from other Taxi Ranks. The suspect, Khun Wunchai, was suspected of demanding 1,500 Baht from drivers to ensure they could continue working.

The officers located the suspect at a Taxi Rank on the Sukhumvit Road junction with the Central Pattaya Road and initially conducted a search of the rank and other drivers and then searched his bike. Nothing illegal was found and nothing confirming the alleged extortion was found as well.

Khun Wunchai was taken to Pattaya City Hall where he was interrogated by officers. He did confess to receiving 1,500 Baht from other drivers

Clearly the man was suffering from the delusion that he was a representative of the people who put him into office in Farang Land.

Former Virginia governor Robert F. McDonnell and his wife, Maureen, were charged Tuesday with illegally accepting gifts, luxury vacations and large loans from a wealthy Richmond area businessman who sought special treatment from state government.

Wonder how Thailand's tax laws work, did he declare and pay tax on those gifts?

Yes indeed. In civilized countries. Many times it is not the Justice department that hits you the hardest, but the tax office backtaxing you on profits supposibly made and of course calculated by them. Not sure they do this here too
