Tourist Visa second entry from Singapore at BKK Airport

Featured Replies

Posting my experience at the BKK airport after a 5 day stay in Singapore.

My fiance and I been in thailand 4 months now. One visa run and one trip to laos for a double entry visa. We came back to Thailand with our second entry tourist visa unused.

When I tried to get through immigration they accused me of "working in thailand illegally" and did not let me in at first. I showed them my passport (i've been to over 10 countries in the past year) to try and prove I'm a tourist who travels a lot and I don't think they understood english very well. They just kept pointing to the multiple thai entry stamps and telling me that I'm working illegally. I felt like I was "guilty till proven innocent" and since they didn't speak much english at all, I was just guilty. I had 40k baht with me just in case as I heard from people that the officials want to see this sometimes as proof that you're not working, but they never asked to see it. Finally they did let me through.

My fiance was in a different queue and they let her in no problem even though she had the same stamps I do. In fact she said they didn't even check her passport and just stamped it.

Good luck out there, my take on immigration is that it's all up to the officer you get. Best bet might be to sit back for a bit and watch which of them are giving other people problems and which are stamping without checking and just go with the ladder.

That's terrible. Clearly the guy is not using his common sense.

Saw a girl who went for a 30 day tourist extension at Chaengwattana a month back, given a really hard time and being accused; thought the girl was gonna break down when he said he was only going to give her 7 days.
