Thailand respects Saudi Arabia envoy's recall: Sihasak

BANGKOK: -- Thailand respects and understands Saudi Arabia's decision to recall its head of mission over a controversial court verdict concerning the abduction of a Saudi businessman, Thailand's acting foreign minister Sihasak Phuangket-keow said yesterday.

He has asked Riyadh to take note of Bangkok's move to solve the case, adding that every effort had been made to bring the case to justice.

Riyadh recalled its head of mission to Thailand Abdulelah al-Sheaiby, the embassy's charge d'affaires, on July 18, four months after the Thai Criminal Court found five Thai police officers not guilty of abducting and murdering a Saudi businessman who went missing in Bangkok in 1990.

The recall was made quietly and the Thai Foreign Ministry initially said the charge d'affaires had returned home for routine work.

The ministry admitted later that it was a recall in response to the court verdict.

Sihasak yesterday requested that Saudi Arabia use diplomatic channels to convey its dissatisfaction over the issue. "It would be regrettable if the withdrawal of the diplomat led to a further downgrade of relations," he said.

The ministry would consider whether the Thai government could express its sincerity and seek a solution to the problem, as well as give justice to all concerned parties, he said.

Typical Thailand , one side hasn't a clue what the other side is doing , only the other day the press was quoting a spokesman that Thailand was about to launch a new repaired U beaut friendship with Saudi , how things change, it would seem that Thailand has a long way to go at mending relationships with Saudi Arabia, from the Saudi point of view anyway.

If Thailand really respected Saudi Arabia, perhaps they would investigate this case properly, in an open and transparent manner. Fat chance of that happening.

The other day it was true love forever!

These camel riders are burying their head in the sand.

Why don't they respect the jurisdiction of Thai court.

When Thai court say the Thai polices are innocent, that is a ruling that should be universally accepted, regardless if you are a camel rider or buffalo raider.

If they have a problem, go complain to PM Gen Prayuth the great supreme leader himself.

And the (foregone) conclusion of that study will be - no, the Thai government cannot "express its sincerity and seek a solution to the problem, as well as give justice to all concerned parties".

The Saudis have every reason to believe that any progress in this case will be even further suppressed by the latest regime.

Its very likely quite a few people know who killed the Saudi men in Bangkok,

and why,and also the present location of the Blue diamond,the Saudi Govt.

also must realize this ,and feels it is not been treated fairly,while Thailand is

the big loser ,they could have been 1000's Thai workers in Saudi,sending

millions in remittances home to Thailand ,over the years.

The statement the other day was made by a Thai spokesman outlining why the Saudi diplomat had been re-called and it was only for routine discussion or words to that effect. The Saudis did not, to the best of my knowledge, issue a public statement.

I can imagine the reaction if another nation dared to speak on behalf of Thailand.

Its very likely quite a few people know who killed the Saudi men in Bangkok,

and why,and also the present location of the Blue diamond,the Saudi Govt.

also must realize this ,and feels it is not been treated fairly,while Thailand is

the big loser ,they could have been 1000's Thai workers in Saudi,sending

Just a minor comment: I'm personally glad there are not "1000's Thai workers in Saudi." I realize this sounds cruel but I've seen how people from this side if the world are treated over there. It's outrageous and borders on slavery; in numerous cases it really is. There's a reason so many Indian, Filipinas, and Sri Lankans jump to their deaths! It's better to have never known that opportunity. Otherwise, spit on!

If you know anything about working in Saudi you would know that Saudi's would treat Thai's like Sh!!t as they think their Sh!!t don't stink., I know from Experience what they thought and treated Indonesians.
