Motorcycle Taxi Rider Caught Again For Extortion In Pattaya

PATTAYA – September 5, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 12.30 pm Maj.Nopporn Suinghasut was accompanied with Mr.Pongtasit Pidjana-chief district of Bang Lamung- who led a team of soldiers and officials to arrest a Mr.Wanchai Lasopee aged 46 a motorcycle taxi rider after another rider had notified the police that he had been forced to pay Mr.Wanchai 1,500 baht a month like all the other riders.

Upon questioning Mr.Wanchai claimed that he had been arrested by the same officials on August 22nd and he was summoned by the chief district who banned him from riding his motorcycle. On the 1st of September he was able to return to work and he told his friends that he won’t take money from them again

A.Nother Rider I guess has a limited life expectancy.

Ahhhhh, he said he won’t take money from them again.

We should all believe him.

After all it's only the second time he's been arrested for the same crime.

Give him a chance, so he can extort some more money from the others, after all the buffallows are sick back home.

This my friends, is a synopsis of what will eventually happen in all sectors once the current circus loses steam.

It would take generations to change this mind-set.

And it's not going to come from weekly "Happiness" TV shows...

What will happen if all motorcycle taxi just don't give those extortionists the money? Why everyone fear the extortionists? Who are behind these extortionists? Since when this extortionist things happen and everyone just give automatically like clockwork. Weird.

Mr Wanchai sounds a decent sort of a guy, he has promised he won't do it again.

If this man is arrested twice and released twice with no obvious punishment I believe it will increase his power over other motorcycle taxi drivers. It would be easy for him to say something like, "Ha, they cannot keep me or punish me. I am too powerful." Quite possibly making others more scared of him.

If he is guilty they should punish him severely to set a precedent and allow others to see justice is working.

They need to make examples of people like this. Confiscate all his assets and send him to prison for a very long time...and let everybody know.

They gotta treat these guys seriously... what they are doing now is just a joke and makes it worse... now everyone knows all you have to do is promise to behave and they let you continue until next time..

They should seize/freeze all assets pending investigation. Throw in jail pending trial. Etc

2nd offenders should get the book thrown at them. Lock this criminal up for 2 or 3 years and make an example. Tagging and releasing these guys does nothing, just like when they tag and release the girls they pick up on the beach. 500b fine, thank you, see you tomorrow.

Looking at the photo of him and his looks, he reminds me at a butcher I have known in my home country.

I would be careful to drive with him somewhere.

To enlighten all of you baying for his execution. M/C Taxi's have to pay for their plot just as street food vendors and other sidewalk vendors do.

This guy is just an errand boy collecting money. The M/C Taxis play an important role in Policing. If you notice some of them have Police radios to chase down people when the need arises.

There seems to be some confusion as to who should be collecting the monthly payments that's why he's not getting jailed.
