webfact
Global Joint Action Day on Climate Change eventBANGKOK, 9 September 2014 (NNT) - Global Joint Action Day on Climate Change is an event organized by the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The event is also co-hosted with the European Union Delegation, the British Embassy, and the German Embassy in a bid to foster the importance of climate changes issues and challenges. The discussion has focused on human activities on climate change and informed the public about the growing impacts and risks caused by climate change across all across continents. The British Embassy has conducted a research on “Human Dynamics of Climate Change Map”, which illustrates the effects of climate change that are being felt around the world. The illustration predicted that the impact of climate change would intensify in the coming decades. Moreover, in a bid to prevent dangerous climate change, the international community has agreed to take immediate action against these problems due to the fact that the longer it delayed, the more expensive and difficult it will become. The discussion is calling for support to encourage all stakeholders to push for immediate and more ambitious global climate action for the benefit of environment and societies. -- NNT 2014-09-
canuckamuck
I wonder what the immediate action will be? How do you stop the climate from changing? That would be quite a trick.
Ozziepat
Only the money-grubbing die-hard nut jobs are still careening along in this "anthropomorphic climate change" joke-mobile. For starters, China, India and Germany have already announced they will not attend the latest pending international climate hoo-ha. More will follow.
Rockhound
"Global warming", which was changed to "climate change" when the inconvenient truth was realized that the planet was not - in fact - warming, is the biggest scam in history. The only people still banging the drum are those who are making a career or money out of it (and there are lots of both of these) and idiots. Fortunately, over time, the number of idiots is ever decreasing.

FangFerang
Let's declare a day to talk about climate change! Yay! We're raising awareness! We're changing the world with words! We are making wishes on a day no one has a birthday..... Yeah. Right. The countries and companies that are changing the climate would not go near one of these love-ins. I've grown very cynical about it. We could restore ozone depletion in three years if we equipped passenger jets with ozone generators to operate at high altitudes. And these generators weigh less than four passengers. NO! NO! They cried -- we don't want to fix the problem -- we want to TALK about it! That way we can make villains and heroes and everyone gets elected happily ever after.... What rubbish...... johnmcc6
Not another thread on this global warming crap...Please!!! The biggest money maker since bottled water. Lets not get into another endless thread about everyones opinion on this done to death issue. At the moment the ice sheets are growing to record levels, the temp has not changed for many many years. and even the rightious ipcc has said nothing unusual is happening. Lets just smell the rose's and chill out and enjoy the time we all have without spinning out on un substantiated nonsense. I will not respond to the tree huggers who may wish to continue this boring debate. I am enjoying myself just fine under the current way of things. If it makes you feel good to be a hand wringer, knock youself out. I for one will sleep like a rock and enjoy tomorrow.
connda
I wonder what the immediate action will be? How do you stop the climate from changing? That would be quite a trick. First you start by putting a very large thermostat on that big, glowing ball of hydrogen gas the heats the planets up every day. And climate has been changing since this rock coalesced and formed an atmosphere. And the climate has gotten hotter countless times, and the climate has gotten cooler countless times with all variations of weather extremes in-between. And it will go on ad-infinitum, well after man has annihilated himself through wars or stupidity. They'll just be nobody left around to run a carbon-credit con game, and I'm sure 'Gaia' will be all the better for it. lol

rickirs
It is amazing that over 90% of the world climatologists and 70% of nations didn't understand that "climate change" is simply the normal change in the seasons and that all the nonscientific laypersons are correct that "climate change" is not caused by man, is no threat to man or to specific countries. It seems paradoxical that science is trumped once again by ignorance as it was in Middle Ages. If you understood the issue of climate change as "accelerated" climate change you might have a better appreciation of what is happening to the world in our lifetime. Of course we all understand that climate change has been present on earth over its 4.5 billion years of life. In that time the world has experienced over thousands and millions of years the seas rising and falling, atmospheric degradation, advancement and retreat of glaciers, formation of deserts and floods, smothering ice sheets, etc. But since the dawn of accurate global meteorological devices beginning in the late 1960's from ground, sea, atmospheric, and space scientific platforms, scientists are discovering that significant climate changes are beginning to occur within one and two generations with greater intensity and frequency. Climate change is no longer the child of centuries and its acceleration has become directly noticeable to man’s existence on Earth. Seasonal meteorological events like winter and summer are experiencing more rainfall with greater frequency, more frequent and intense winds, more snowfall, more drought, more extreme temperatures over longer durations, more atmospheric contamination (acid rain), higher ultraviolet exposure, etc. It is these types of events that are the subject of mitigation and/or reversal. The immediate impact on man has been greater loss of life and property, more famine, disease, and displacement. It is for this reason that most nations treat (accelerated) climate change as a threat to their national security and are correctly planning courses of action to protect their citizens.
