What sort of creepy crawlies do you get in the house?

Featured Replies

My wife screamed for me the other day, as she found a snake in the kitchen when she got up. The night before I found a large crab inside ( came out of the drain ). Previously, I nearly stood on a large scorpion when I went to get a drink of water from the fridge.

Not asking about the usual menagerie found in houses here- gekos, small spiders etc.

in three weeks my mum is coming.... just kidding

It's usually I find my wife's kids during the weekends.

But they always lay horizontal on bed all day and don't move much around.

Other than that, got a snake twice in the house, cos they never close the screens as they have been told a million times.

Sounds like typical kids behavior to me cheesy.gif

Had a tortoise/terapin come into the kitchen one evening. Apparently it was good luck or something....

Depends how, pissed I am and who I have picked up that evening....,

Three snakes in recent weeks, sometimes scorpions and later in year will get the loooong red centipdes that reportedly give a very painful bite!

Best to have a pair of slippers or thongs to wear inside.

Almost stepped on this rascal a couple of months back in the yard

We look on scorpions as normal, sometimes the small ones which are really painful, centipedes, cane spiders, nearly stood on a hooded cobra a week or two ago just outside the door (I may have screamed), but the worst are the rats running along above the ceiling.

Three frogs in the last week or so. Not bothered about them but about what might come looking for them.

Yes, have had snakes coming in chasing after frogs before....

address -2, rural: snake in bathroom, ground level of house - scorpions, big centipedes (takarb?)

address -1 town: snake in kitchen - saw last of tail go under fridge as I went to turn kettle on 5.30am. Wake up! Small squirrels would run along power lines and sit on balcony, didn't mind them

address now, town: scorpions x3. Now (I believe) scorpion-proofed house

Our house is like a cage, screendoors with bars all over the place and that works well. 4 times a year termite control also helps. At night all windows are closed and locked, camera's running, security on patrol, lights on around the house, alarm on....i wouldn't want it any other way though.

I don't have anything inside the house since I've had seven cats. They kill anything that moves that's not bigger than they are. They kill and eat everything! Fortunately our property is large enough to let the seven beasts roam...

Sometimes it's a problem keeping the cats out of the house.

have you ever trod on a snake in middle of night doing to john that will scare the shitter out of you

Nothing gets into my house, I made sure it was well sealed up when I built it

That is my biggest worry at the Farm.

Not yet, and I hope never.

We get, in addition to all the above (except the Scorpions) and ticks ... lots of them.

We are near Bangkok and thankfully, no Scorpions I've seen here.

.

I just saw these photos today on facebook someone warned to be careful with snakes coming out of toilet somewhere in thailand... I'm sure many ppl would scare the hell out when they meet a protective cobra mum like that w00t.gif

we get all sorts . . . scorpions, spiders, geckos, skinks, various snake species, bullfrogs, treefrogs, toads . . . and even a 'rat' as Mrs. G called it, was really a mouse, sitting atop the air conditioning unit one time. How it climbed up there i'm still baffled to this day.

If you have problems with ticks get some Guinea Fowl (gai tok), eat ticks and other creepies, lay delicious eggs, best of two worlds smile.png

My equivalent is the geko that climbed inside a fan control unit and lived in it feeding off insects- after it grew it couldn't get out. Found it after it died- was very deformed from not being able to move around much.

Some great replies, thanks.
