If you applied on a Monday morning you would pick it up on Tuesday afternoon.

If you are going on your own Tuesday or Wednesday mornings would be the best days because those are the days the visa run vans don't show up.

I have a friend that needs to go and I want to make it a short weekend holiday together with her over the weekend.

Arrive Friday night. Immigration Monday morning. Depart Tuesday afternoon.

Hopefully minimal time at immigration Monday and time to relax and enjoy.

I heard fly close to Laos and take bus is cheaper and not too long on the bus.

I enjoy buses and seeing country side if not too long (1-2hours)

Is it easy to get Laos visa in bkk to avoid line in Laos?

Same cost?

Where?

Maybe arrive Friday morning and straight to immigration and get visa Monday?

Its not bad getting lao visa on arrival

Make sure u got 30 or 35 usd exact amount.

U fly to udon thani with nok air and they take u van to lao border and then vientiane. Air asia do that too i think.

But i would recommend direct flight

Check www.skyscanner.net

I did both ways.

Monday u go consulate 6am.

Its massive queues

I assume mean being at the consular section on Monday not immigration. You would need to be there very early on a Monday to make it quick since that is very busy day.

You can fly to Udon Thani and then from there to the bridge in Nong Kai it is about an hour by van from the airport. Nok Air has a fly/ride service to Vientiane via Udon.

You can get a visa for the same cost at the Lao embassy in Bangkok unless you pay extra for one hour service.

A Friday morning arrival and then applying for the visa at the consular section (not immigration) would be the best choice because that is least busy day. You would pick up you visa on Monday afternoon.

There is nothing worse than lining up all day at the embassy in Vientiane. I use one of the visa services out the front.. Sure its an extra 3000thb... but i consider it worth it..

i get picked up at my hotel, taken to the embassy, walk my paperwork inside to get a queue number (5 mins), return my paperwork and number to the visa service guy (i recommend a young man named 'Boiy')..and then chauffeured back to my hotel.

The next day, my passport/visa is delivered to my hotel room....it doesn't get any easier than that..

Its risky.

I would never handle my passport to guy from street.

and then they might blackmail u

Like u pay 50k or u not get ur passport back..

almost everything we do here comes with an element of risk....

i think you are being a tad paranoid...

besides, he is not a stranger to me... he was quite willing to allow me to take a photograph of both of us together and holding my passport in front of him...

i also have his LINE ID and phone number.

I've spent time with this young Laotian guy and he seems trustworthy, honourable and comes highly recommended.

Now, of course this is not always the case and we have all heard the horror stories..

Keep your wits about you and take as many precautions as necessary.

I still keep in touch with this guy and will use his service again... in fact I only spoke to him yesterday...

p.s I've never heard of someone having their passport ransomed by a service provider stationed directly infront of the embassy...

If someone didn't mind spending a weekend in Laos would Friday be vert quiet and pick it up Monday?

This is what we do.

Couple of weeks ago, we went Friday morning. They open at 830am, we arrived at 840. We walked out the gate finished at 855am.

Picked up Monday afternoon after so much good food all weekend, chatted with a couple of stragglers from the morning drop-offs who were number 500+

Our pickup at the window took maybe 20 seconds.

Didn't hire anyone to help us.

Can anyone confirm processing time for ED visa from embassy here? I plan to drop off application first thing monday morning and want to book my flight back for Tuesday evening. Cutting it too close?

Posted

In Vientiane it is apply on one day and pick up your passport the next afternoon.

A flight in evening would not be a problem. You should have you passport in hand no later than 3pm on Tuesday.

UbonJoe, or anyone, do you know how late you are able to cross the border into Laos each day? If I fly into Udon Thani at 18:30, can I still get into Laos on that same day/night? If not, what time does it open in the morning? I apologize in advance if the border crossing is 24 hours and I'm just an idiot. :)

The bridge closes at 22:00. You should have no problem getting there in time. But you do need to be at the bridge a little while before closing time.

Hi.

I just want to share that I got my ED-Visa last week at Vientiane embassy with no problem.

I apply on friday 10th October at 8.30am, and got my visa on monday 13th October at 1.30pm.

I applied on the 21st and received on the 22nd, no issues. Please be aware that in addition to requirements you are aware of, you will also need a copy of your Laos visa page, Thai exit stamp page, and Laos entry stamp page. Also, I had printed and filled out my Laos visa application and Thai visa application pages, neither of which were accepted. You'll need to get those from touts at both places for about 20 baht each. Happy stamping all, good luck!

What is the difference ? The forms that are accepted could be uploaded on this forum.

tm7 and such forms for use at Thai immigration in Thailand can be downloaded here, as I have done. I'm just telling you be prepared that the forms I downloaded from here and from Laos immigration websites were not accepted in Vientiane. I was just there, I think you can take my word on that.

You will not find a usable Lao visa on arrival form anywhere online anywhere I don't think. You certainly do not need to pay for it though they will give you one for free at the window.

Others have used the one downloaded from here or on the Vientiane website. Again you also do not have to pay a tout to a form at the embassy consular section.
