Visa ED extension "under consideration"? My first visit to immigration office.

First of all, sorry for my approximative English! Me and my girlfriend (30/25yo) applied for an ED Visa in June (English courses). We did it the regular way: from our own Thai embassy. I'm a digital nomad.

The school was promising a one year ED visa along with the courses.

Our first 90 days are about to expire, and we went to the immigration office recently (our first time!).

Of course, the officer asked why we came in Thailand to study English and said we should go to England instead (without even listening to my answer). Thanks for the advice. "No good, no good" he said while stamping a big "approval under consideration" along with a single month "grace period". Try again next month dude.

Oh, and I forgot : he kept our passports too ("come back tomorrow for your passeports").

What's wrong? Have someone experienced such situation? We are legally studying in Thailand, will my visa be rejected or is it only an attempt of intimidation?

Was that Phuket immigration?

The 30 days is for them to check that your are attending classes and that the school is legit. If your application is approved you will get the the extension stamp on the report back date.

The under consideration stamp allows you stay until the extension is approved or denied.

Yup, Phuket immigration. I'm attending classes, so we shouldn't be worried but we never know with those guys... English courses in Thailand sounds bad.

The school promised a one year visa, but it seems it's only 8 month now! If that's true, we'll have to get a tourist visa somewhere to not face heavy economical consequences because everything was planned and booked according to that 12 month...

" he kept our passports too"

How would they be (maybe) able to enter the extension in your passport without the passport?

Cant be it done immediately to save a trip to the office?

At most offices you get them back as soon as you finish the application and the stamps have been done. If it is late in the day some offices will have you come back the next to get your passport.
