Is an outbound ticket required for a tourist visa ?

Featured Replies

I'm currently here on visa exempt entry with an outbound ticket for early October.

I am considering going to Laos or the Philippines to apply for a tourist visa. Can anyone tell me when I apply or when I enter Thailand with the new visa will I be required to show an outbound ticket from Thailand? It's not that I am trying to avoid getting one it's just that I would prefer at this time not to change the date (again) as every time I do a date change it costs me more money.

Thanks

From what I've read in the past, Laos would probably be more helpful. I didn't show a ticket in the past, but if you look in the Pinned Topics Section, posts with people's experiences give a good description for what to expect in the region.

Theoretically the airline is liable to a fine and your return ticket to point of departure if Thai immigration refuses you entry. I believe that The USA is the only country that occasionally refuses to let you on board without an onward ticket. Take a credit card, check in early and if you have a problem go book a ticket to Phnom Penh in the airport.

Since you will have a visa, you no dot need an outgoing ticket neither for the airline, nor for Thai immigration.

If you are planning on not staying any longer than October you could apply for a 30 day extension of your 30 day exempt entry at immigration.

Most nearby embassies and consulates do not ask for tickets out to get a tourist visa.

If you have a valid visa you do not need to show a ticket out on entry or to board your flight.
