Bookings for Vietnam are going through the roof.

Any link/facts to substantiate that claim?

Was a tongue in cheek remark, to make a point.

Sorry if it was lost on you

Well I hope the British police were able to get samples of the DNA when Hanna got back to the UK

Then someone would be able to pick up cigarette buts from the two bars (secretly) of the main suspects

Then test them when back in the UK, no good as evidence but may just solve this case

My wife has family that live on Koh Tao and Koh Phagnan.

She had a chat with her cousin yesterday on Koh Tao and everyone there knows who did it. Probably known since the day after the crime.

Therefore, the police must have known too.

Only conflicting info from her, was that it was the nephew of a village headman ??

Looks like they will get the right people eventually though, more due to international pressure than good police work.

RIP the deceased..

In fairness mate have you ever met any thai women who didn't profess to knowing everything biggrin.png

I took it for one of the usual "Thailand is sinking, all expats will move to Cambodia, no tourists will come" TV postings. It appears I was right.

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention in a very long time is the female victim's missing iPhone.

If it was stolen during the murder, surely it should provide some leads to follow. Don't they have all sorts of apps that can track the phone - apart from police checking calls and signals?

Or her wallet which you can see she has in the last photo that was taken of them that night.

An what about her jewelry ?

Hannah was, at least, wearing several bracelets the evening she was murdered, wether it was silver, gold or just cheap materials I don't know.

Anyone know if those bracelets was still on her body when she was found?:

Sypnosis script for conspiracy lovers.....

A young and open minded farang couple went to a beach spot for fun....

They danced and flirted in typical young foreigners way, perhaps after few drinks...

One or some of the boss's family or spot's staff on the dance floor, said something offensive or touched the girl, and her boyfriend reacted loud...

They got upset....and shared the feelings with the spot bouncers....

3 of them were told, or decided, to "take care" of the farangs outside the spot...

They follow the couple to the beach and waited for the opportunity to confront them....perhaps just for a beating...

They found them..naked..having sex...

The girl's boyfriend reacted, and they killed them ...raping the girl ...and run.

They informed the "boss" about what happens...

They got out of the island the same morning...and probably out of the country the same day...

With "professional" help, the boss tryed to put the blame in no local people....but DNA was the only link to the murderers..

The criminals never were found...or were found much later... and matching the DNA...but DEAD.

Case close...

DISCLOSE:

This is a fictional work, and not specific country, town, boss, or authority, is named.....

It is sounds familiar, it is because can happen in any place on earth, and to any people....

Too much time on your hands?

i WAS IN Pattaya during 9/11 and remember the scores of laughing locals watching video footage of people jumping to their deaths from the burning towers.

I was also on train in Samui when a backpacker had a very bad accident on a train and fell to his death, the glee on the faces of some of the travellers as they rushed to get a look was disgusting, several laughing out loud as they spoke on the phones to their mates, or whoever they felt the need to call and gleefully discuss it with.

Maybe its upbringing, who knows but to us in the west they are a cold hearted lot, the smiles are false, its all about the $$$$$$$.

In battle soldiers sometimes laugh before they go into a deadly situation. Maybe that is also true here. I find most Thai people to be very shy and if they see a dead body maybe its such a shock they laugh like a soldier entering no mans land.

Do They??

Watch some everyday Thai soaps, rape and laughter at misfortune. Been here so long I do not react , but Thai can laugh; just like our Western slap stick and gory horror films; I make no distinction!

BTW the headman has more than one son, its clear when asked on the original interview with him he stated that ONE of my sons is at Uni in Bangkok but stated he has TWO sons... not one.......so...

Where is there ANY mention anywhere of this second son apart from then headmans own interview on camera ??? the media have only ever talked about one son but the headman when asked said he had TWO SONS and that when asked where they were he replied BOTH sons were in BKK

the son they make a big deal or has DNA tested about is the UNI student who had loads of alibis and never left BKK .. BUT... a son WAS on the Island during the time of the murders from other reports but left the Island early the next morning.............. everyone focused on just the son who is a student .... WHY ? .... WHAT ABOUT THIS OTHER SON SUPPOSEDLY ON THE ISLAND AT THE TIME NO ONE IS EVEN ASKING ABOUT ? ....

Who cares how many sons there are and how many brothers.....fact is they are now in the clear, it's all been sorted, and the Keystone Cops are back to DNA testing Burmese migrants, while holding onto the dream that they may yet stil be able to pin it on a Brit

'One of the two men released last night, who reporters did not identify, said he was unable to contact his son and did not know if he had a hand in the killings.'

'Another man, the younger brother of the former village headman, who is believed to be the man seen on a security camera near the crime scene, is still in custody.'

'Pol Lt-General Panya Mamen, who is overseeing the investigation, said yesterday that the headman's son is believed to be hiding in Bangkok. Panya refused to reveal the suspects' names, saying police were questioning one man and expected to arrest another in Bangkok today.'

'Meanwhile, a police source said it was not possible that people on the island did not have any knowledge of what might have happened on the night of the murder. The source said may be they don't want to talk to police, as they do not want to have problems with an influential group.'

I wonder what it was that made Bkk order Mr Panya's sudden replacement as head of the investigation and the loss of interest in these suspects that Panya seemed so confident about without apparently testing their DNA at the time. The two Burmese, who are now suspects, had apparently been passed over as suspects in the first days of the investigation and one of them was photographed in a line of Burmese workers waiting for DNA testing. Added to this witnesses quoted by police claiming to see one of these men leaving KT on a speedboat soon after the tragic events it seemed as if Mr Panya had got things wrapped up.

Whatever it was it was clearly brilliant sleuth work, no doubt as a result of brushing up on their detective textbooks which it later turned out are the same ones used by Scotland Yard but presumably overlooked by Mr Panya. That only goes to show that Thai police now operate in the stratosphere of international standards and do everything by the book.

So much has happened since this OP. Which event is the most significant? Could it be the sudden and inexplicable massive wealth increase of SP? When I say massive I mean just shy of half a Billion baht.

In the video this still is grabbed from, which you can easily find on the internet, you can see the running man's hair is very straight and floppy, so that it bounces up to its full length when he runs. Of the 2B one had quite short hair and the other had longish but wavy hair that would not bounce up in such a flowing way at the time of their arrests 9 days after the murders.

No doubt the BiB reviewed this piece of evidence carefully before eliminating other suspects and closing in on the 2B.

The Police General Hospital autopsy report has been posted online but I will not post it here as it is in Thai only. If interested, you should be able to find it easily.

The report that has been posted without the preamble is only one page of well spaced type for both victims and seems rather cursory in nature, compared to autopsy reports on victims of violent crime where the circumstances of death are far from clear in the US or other Western countries. Perhaps it is only a summary but it seems entirely consistent with what was described as the autopsy findings on Thai TV by the police pathologist in charge.

The report says that both Hannah and David died from violent blows to the head with a blunt instrument that caused wounding consistent with the hoe that was found nearby.

DNA traces of a Mr C were found on Hannah's nipples and semen with DNA from a Mr B and Mr C were found internally.

No sign of sexual assault on David.

No signs of toxic substances or poisoned food in either victim.

Nothing is mentioned about the multiple incision or chop wounds on David's head or upper torso or the obvious difference in the wounds to each victim that the pathologist ascribed to the same blunt instrument as murder weapon.

wonder how it compares with the coroners report?

Will be interesting to know, if we ever see that document. The UK pathologists will unfortunately have had much less to work with than the Thai police pathologists, since the bodies would have been completely cleaned up before repatriation. So no chance to look for any other DNA traces, I wouldn't think. However, it is hard to imagine a British pathologist, even just by looking at the photographs, agreeing that David's wounds were all consistent with the use of a blunt instrument, most likely the hoe which in a separate report or page was apparently found to have no trace of his DNA on it.

I think it would be safe to say, if RTP pathologist has done a sloppy job, the "clean up" crew will have done a sloppy job as well, therefore is there is anything to find the British pathologist will find evidence...
