Popular Post Costas2008
Poor girl, feel very sorry for her. Probably they will catch the rapist, give him a lecture as to why he shouldn't defame Thailand with his actions and let him go on Bail. Another day in Thailand, another story to tell.......................
Popular Post ClutchClark
Westerners need to get past this ridiculous idea that warning women to be careful is not the same thing as blaming the victim. The fact is Thailand is not a First World culture and a different set of cultural rules apply. You will find the same rules in many under-developed cultures throughout he world. A lone woman is looked at as "opportunity". I hope she is OK.
Popular Post khunming
Perhaps the foreigner's wristband, or the tourist curfew, being considered by the Minister of Tourism would have prevented this crime.
shirtless
This is happening far to often , Thailand needs to address tourist safety , at present electronic tracking devices may not be such a bad idea , Nb no need to upgrade the airport if this continues don muang could handle all air traffic. Popular Post CMCMANGOMAN
Opertunstic criminals, whether monetarily motivated or sexually perverse in their motivation have always been with us in the world. How civilized society has dealt with them has determined their numbers and boldness. Currently, the world, including little Thailand, have a serious lack of strong moral leadership with enough power to slow the rising tide of the criminally minded. Thailands long inbred culture of lying, corruption, malfeasance, greed, selfishness, murder, sexual perversion and worship of the almighty Baht has led us to where we now find ourselves. That is to say, that our beloved Thailand is merely a microcosm and a reflection of the ever more lawless 1st world we all came from. The solution is at hand but would require sacrifice and deep reflection that no one on TV really wants to put up with. Let's all fiddle shall we?
Popular Post soalbundy
This does seem to be getting out of hand lately, what is happening to the Thai psyche? In fact rape seems to be on the increase throughout the world or is the reporting getting better?. I have always considered Thailand safe for tourists,Thais can be violent but usually only amongst themselves, as long as we didn't poke them with sticks they left us alone but i am not so sure now. The fact that wrist bands for tourists are being considered seems to show me that the Thai authorities think that tourists are at risk here.

lucjoker
anything valuable ,beautiful, special ........that you like ,will also be liked by others. It can be your gold chain, your money, your beautiful body, your lovely child ........ If "the other" has no morality (poor education and too much wrong examples around him )then there is a big possibility it will be taken off you ! You can be killed for a 20 bht bill, after being raped, walking around with a gold chain ,.......just like that. The more civilized people around you ,the safer .But those places are very rare since immigrations mixed things up. Flashing your body or money is a very dangerous thing to do ,some don't understand this simple logic.

I thought there was one on Phuket reported Monday, and an incident on Koh Tao. I heard of this on Sunday, it sounds like the girl got herself into a remote area on her own. While that in itself should not be a worry, the reality is women should be wary of accepting rides off strangers in many countries. Thailand maybe more so as bad types seem to have little fear of repercussions, I wonder why. Let us hope this one gets put away, I am confident as important people are pushing this and I feel Pattaya Police can get their man when they mean to!

Carrerakiss
The last sentence says it all. "The police are now looking for suspects to arrest." But it was one man who committed the crime and better they look for that man rather than a bunch of suspects, any suspects, just to give the impression of progress.
