Asia Holiday Destinations December 2014

Featured Replies

Hello all,

My family and I where thinking of going somewhere in December, but we want to stay nearby, as we moved to Bangkok Thailand last year.

We had been proposed Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Oman, and Vietnam (we are open to more suggestions!).

What are the best destinations that you have been to in December inAsia? We want to have something for everyone, we have an 8-year old boy and a 15-year old girl.

Beaches are fine, scenery is fine, cool weather with shops are fine, anything to take us away from the usual work and school schedule!

Thank you!

The Philippines! Even just Manila itself has plenty to offer for the whole family: Intramuros and Fort Santiago, churches, parks with activities like go-kart racing, plenty of shopping, international dining choice, low cost, theater (for both children and adults, look on the ticketworld website), and, most memorable of all, the Filipinos, a warm, polite and welcoming nation. And there are easy options for daytrips out of Manila such as Lake Taal, a volcano lake. Or ypu could book a ticket in advance on either Philippines Airlines or Cebu Pacific for low cost airfare.

Singapore for the family would be extremely expensive.

As for my opinion of choice, as you mentioned somewhere nearby - I would suggest Singapore and Malaysia together.(its a 2 hour flight from BKK)

Singapore has a Universal Studio (good for the kids) located on Sentosa along with other optional tours you can choose. You can also take a quick

bus tour departing from Singapore to Lego-Land in Malaysia, the trip takes about 1.1/2 hours one way and the cost is very reasonable.

Just a caution for December travel, School holiday therefore places like Universal/Legoland can be sold out so advance booking is recommended.

Also, the hotels will definitely raise their room rates during December so you should search early for the best rates guaranteed.

have a great trip.

There is plenty to do in Vietnam, lots to see in Ho Chi Minh City and then visit Dalat and enjoy the cool cool climate. If you have never heard of it (Dalat) have a quick look on line.

December in Asia is a great time weather wise. Clear skies, cool weather, little or no rain. With the exception for Japan, where it can be quite cold, except in the very south.

Singapore is a bit expensive, but as mentioned above, seems to have some good activities for kids. You might even combine Singapore for a few days and then Langkawai for some beach time after that.

Book tickets and hotels soon as that's the absolute busiest time of the year!! If you can, please give us a post back as to what you did, how you liked it, etc. I know we'd love to hear.

How about Kathmandu?

Not expensive to get there, obviously no beach but, apart from the pollution in the city, quite an experience

And if you are dary, a flight, or more, to have a look at the Everest
