October 7, 201411 yr After being with my angel for many years now, ( seems longer than it is really), her English skills border on fluent, however, there are a number of words she either cannot remember or cannot be bothered to learn. She invents words that she finds awkward or does notr want to learn ( I suspect the latter, frankly) Examples: Mouthwash is glugug as , apparently, thats the sound I make. Most of the words I can guess but Gliggly had me going for some time until she explained it was roll-on deodorant. Questioned further as to the relevance she lifted her arm and mimed gligg,,ly... gligg..ly!! Most of the other examples are somewhat personal :-) So, the point of the topic is, does your wife/gf/partner do the same and what are the words?
October 7, 201411 yr The wife had me going with this one, Ungerloo What she meant (and it took me ages to work out), was Kangaroo. Have a Nice Day. Edited October 7, 201411 yr by firefox999uk
October 7, 201411 yr My wife doesn't invent words, but sometimes, she uses the name of a brand instead of the name of the actual object. Another variant: one day, we had an unwanted visitor in our house and my wife told me that she saw Batman flying in our bedroom. Actually, it was a bat!
October 7, 201411 yr My g/f is getting better but handicapped with braces. I try to get her to break up large words and to pronouce them slowly.
October 8, 201411 yr A cross between don't know and not sure - don't sure.....which leaves me right back to where I started.....
