Transfers BKK to Hua Hin?

Featured Replies

Guy's heading to Hua Hin after a couple of days in BKK. Any recommendations for the transfer, train, bus, private hire? Any experience with the minibus service from near victory monument?

If there are more than one of you, just get some private transport. Things are really slow right now. I'd bet you could negotiate a pretty good deal. They pick you up at your door and drop you off at your hotel in Hua Hin.

Cheers there's 2 of us and it will be at New year so may have picked up a bit by then. Any firms recommend?

Absolutely crazy time to travel. Best to book well in advance.

Victory Monument minivans are fast, cheap, and cramped. See Wikivoyage Hua Hin for instructions.

There is a direct bus from BKK (airport) to Hua Hin, operated by RR. Info on the Bell Travel website.

I took the direct bus from Suvarnabhumi airport to Hua Hin and back. Highly recommend it....for comfort and safety.

As said above the direct bus from the Airport is recommended

The minibus company I normally use is located directly below VM BTS, 180 Baht, bus every 30 minutes and 2.5 - 3 hours travelling time.

I agree with other posters who have recommended the bus from Suvarnabhumi to HH. If I remember correctly it has large comfortable seats only 3 across.

Just be aware that the bus station it goes into in HH is beyond the centre of town. They will stop and drop you off wherever you want, but you need to know where to get off.

Alternative would be a nice leisurely train journey:

Friends just paid 4,300 baht return (in a Toyota Innova Van - The rate for a standard car is 4000 baht return).

2500 baht BKK-HH

1800 baht HH-BKK (return leg)

The drivers of the Toyota Innova seemed polite and safe.

The company was 'Thai Happy Taxi'

I do exactly what Richard suggests. From don mueang for about 2500 from taxi rank. I return from hua hin for 1800 at any taxi street vendors. I go condo pickup to pattaya for 1200. My usual driver is taking me to ban phi pier this Friday for 2000.

If there are two of you just get a cab. To hua hin that's about 1200 each. In farang world that would get you no where. And so relaxed. One good bus survive is one mentioned from main airport direct to hua hin ...level 1 and also direct one from pattaya to that airport.

Get on the sky train, go as far as you can to wanwinyi, Get a white min bus 400 bht one way to Hua Hin

Not so enjoyable with baggage. But, if you are budgeting heavily fare enough.

An additional note: When taking public transport you have no control over how the driver drives (erratic etc). With a private booking the client can ask a driver to slow down, be more careful etc... they listen, if they don't there may be repercussions with the company they are working through.

Booking a service is the way to go IMO. You then avoid the lottery with regards to quality of taxi driver you randomly get when queueing up. The booked services seem to have higher standards of service with regards to safety (seat belts), driver quality (again safety) and the general politeness of the driver.

By booking a service you will cut down the odds of unnecessary hassle.

I generally drive, but when travelling to locations beyond an easy few hours drive I'll book through one of the many available companies, I guess some are better than others, trip advisor is often a good source of information, as is this website (thaivisa.com). I've never had issues and always been happy with those vans/cars/drivers assigned.
