So, is the report saying a fat, black girl is african, madagascan??? and is there that many the cops cannot trace her or gang. I thought they would be keeping a very close check on people from Africa for obvious reasons.

At 26 she is NOT a girl

In reality she is a dumb greedy woman who thought she could get 5000 baht for free

I say dumb as her story sounds like what my dog does every morning thumbsup.gif

It's a variation of the dropped 'fake jewellery' scam that crops up from time to time in Thailand. Usually it's a gold necklace which is found lying in the street by the victim of the con at the same time as the fraudster. Since they both found it at the same time, there's some confusion as to how to spilt the proceeds. The fraudster says s/he doesn't have enough time to go sell the jewellery so offers to let the victim have it in return for the victim giving them any valuables on them at the time. The victim, not realising the gold is fake, believes they have got the better deal, but when they take the necklace to a gold shop to sell, it's revealed as worthless.

Often the victim is too embarrassed to report the crime, although if they do, they sometimes claim they were drugged or hypnotised into giving away their valuables. However there's no real proof of this. What's more likely is greed paid a part in their downfall.
