hello

i got recently the 30/3 package for 899 monthly including tv and phone package.

the speed is good for youtube etc but the ping overseas is horrible when playing online games. do you guys have any methods to reduce the ping to america? perhaps a vpn to get the fastest gateway route?

Not a gamer, but here are my PingTest.net results on a TOT Ftth fiber 2U connection in Chiang Rai Provence:

660/3 **- Liberty Lake, WA, USA

369/5 - Lynnwood, WA, USA

273/2 - Corvallis, OR, USA

258/3 - San Francisco, CA, USA

358/4 - Newbury Park, CA, USA

362/2 - Denver, CO, USA

227/1 - Dallas, TX, USA

403/3 - Tampa, FL, USA >40%packet loss and 450-1000ms ping rates, unstable link

318/1 - Orlando, FL, USA

390/7 **- Atlanta, GA, USA

298/1 - Washington DC, USA

438/67**- Brooklyn, NY, USA

431/33 - Chicago, IL, USA

327/12 - Coventry, Great Britain

427/26 - Utrecht, Netherlands

507/78 - Frankfurt, Germany

Best bet is to probably try and see if you can find servers to play on which are closer to home.

Even a US West coast, as opposed to US East coast, will have a significant difference in latency/ping.

What game are you playing?

As sometimes the servers are located in different areas. e.g. With WoW they had their servers based in various different states, so some would provide much better latency than others (They have also apparently moved the Oceanic servers to Australia now).

There is also a service called WoWTunnels which would help to find the best gateways to reduce latency to WoW Servers. From what I remember, they also expanded their service to other games as well, so they'd be worthwhile checking out.

I used to play a lot of online games when I lived in NZ, and connecting to US Servers for FPS games was terrible, but luckily there were heaps of Aus servers. For a lot of games there should also be Thai/Japanese/Chinese servers too.

thx for the replies guys

well ye its for WoW, i plan to transfer to oceanic servers as the ping there is much better ( 190ms)

3bb somehow has a better latency than true internet but true internet is much better for surfing (youtuber without buffering).

Remember with Wow that if you're currently having problems, it's likely not caused by your connection, as due to the expansion there are significantly more ppl playing than usual.

Hopefully the current maintenance will ease up the server lag a little, as it was horrible yesterday (Especially trying to kill those damn ravens lol).

There are currently free transfers off Frostmourne to any Oceanic realm too, although you just missed the free transfers from any US realm to an Oceanic realm (they closed on the 13th).
