Hello, some friends and I are having a Thai /Indian night. Starters and dessert are sorted. What I need help with is the Thai part of the main course. My Indian friends are cooking a lamb Biriani. What could I cook to go with this?

BTW I am planning to do Bambis Yum salmon as a side salad.

Any thoughts.

you can see some recipe about TH starter /main dish and etc.

BTW there is a recipe of salmon salad here (but different dish i have eaten) this salad is an issan style "larb"

Spicy Salmon Salad, Thai Style

(LAP SALMON)

Grilled salmon 1.5 lbs.

Shallots, peeled and sliced thin 1 cup

Onion, sliced thin 2 tbsp.

Mint leaves 1/2 cup

Toasted raw rice kernels, ground 3 - 4 tbsp.

Red chili powder 1 - 2 tbsp.

Fish sauce 1/4 cup

Fresh lime juice 1/3 cup

Red spur chili peppers, sliced 2 tbsp.

Chopped fresh galangal (optional) 3 tbsp.

(4 servings)

1. Baste the pieces of salmon lightly with vegetable oil and grill until cooked. Take off heat and let cool.

2. With a fork break salmon pieces into a crumble. Add the rest of the salad garnishes except the fresh lime juice. Toss all the ingredients together, then add fresh lime juice to taste. It should be tart enough at first taste but not overpowering.

3. Spoon this salad over decorative lettuce cups and garnish with fresh mint leaves and julienne red spur chili peppers

The Birian Lamb is an excellent one pot meal.It is not real hot but is highly spiced as are many Indian dishes.A side of yougart would be nice with the Lamb, sometimes it comes out of the oven a little dry.Make nan bread if you can if not use pita bread.I would recomend a Napa Cabbage and Chicken soup to go with it.It is just chicken, napa, garlic, onion, white pepper(not much) and the water and a little corriander on the table to sprinkel on the soup. With a touch of fish sauce,of course :o. For dessert, the name is lost to me at the moment. But you take corn off of the cob mix with sugar and coconut milk and heat to a simmer and remove from the heat and eat warm.Aroy mak mak!!I LOVE food!!!!!!!

Excellent suggestions. We actually had our night and it was super! The thing that went down best was Bambi's 'spicy and sour salmon salad', one I'll make again and again. Thanks Bambi!
