Bought new D-Max 3.0 SL 4X4 Manual box five years ago. Only new car I have had in over 50 years. 85,000km, new battery a year ago. Serviced regularly at dealer, but not at the silly intervals recommended. Dearest major service with all fluids changed was only about 6,000 baht and I was given a free breakdown kit with tow rope, heavy duty jump leads and inspection lamp. Similar items at Makro came to about 4000 baht! Easy choice to make because only three dealers in nearest town. Nissan had friendliest salesman, but Navarra thirsty and has a bad reputation in England with horrific depreciation. Toyota had one base model single cab on display, no brochures on other models and a salesman who was reluctant to come out of the air con and actually unlock the car for us. Isuzu were polite, informative and helpful. I hope to keep the truck for life, but if it dies or rolls over I shall get another Isuzu. As an aside, I did not know about ATM bank transfers at the time, so after I had transferred the money from England to my wifes account I had to keep 900,000 baht in the house overnight. We had already had one burglary, so I did not sleep much.

2002 Ford Ranger, 4WD, that I've owned for 5 years and added about 70,000 to the 230,000 when I bought it... Not sure what had been replaced before me (it came with a Ford FSH & all reciepts), but I've got through 2 clutch master cylinders, 2 (different) door-lock servo's, a few suspension bits & bearings, and a couple of shocks. Engine wise I replaced the glow-plugs (non-Ford replacements lasted just a couple of days, but the genuine replacement have been trouble free for about a year - as well as oil & filters, etc.

Most of my driving is relatively short (10-15km) journeys on badly potholed roads (hence the clutch & suspension problems), but it returns around 350km to a 1000bt fill, and still has enough acceleration to Iet me get first away from the lights when they go green....(not difficult against most local drivers, I know)

I'm more than happy with it over the years, and see little reason to change

Bugger...!

Wish I hadn't posted the above..

Since writing this I've hade the fuel pump & injector distributor fail... The battery died (forgot to mention previously I'd already replaced it a couple of years ago), and it looks like the alternator has given up generating - which could be why the battery died..!

I'm sure there's loads more problems just around the corner to offest the "good karma" in my previous post... LOL.sad.png.pagespeed.ce.5zxzyGiJz0Lw1H_s8Ue

Just a short update....my baby's got new shoes made by Bridgestone ( 15.5 K for four of them, 205's) and a friend brought some high beamers from Germany. I made sure that they kept their old shit, as they're really trying to sell me two year old tires......

I just don't understand why you can't buy high beamers them here? Okay, I was maybe too stupid to find a place in Sisaket, or Ubon. But the only lights I've seen at cars were fog lights. Ain't that foggy out here, right? Why do these fogglers don't get that the light aren't made if there's no fog???

My friend was actually buying two sets, so if something happens, I've got replacement. When I installed them I found something out that was pretty odd. The relais that came with them only worked for two hours and than started hanging for seconds after switching light off, or down.

I assume that the crap was made in China? Tried the second relay from the other set, the same problem, it worked for two hours then when I switched down to driving light, the additional high beamers were still on for a few seconds.Annoying, ( for the others who couldn't see shit)////

But then, something unforeseeable happened to the fresh polished color and some idiots at school, who sprayed some <deleted> chairs and desks, also sprayed my baby's skin. even parked 12-14 meters away. I wanted to cry, told my baby that I'd find a solution and posted a cry for help at the motor forum.

The Warp Speed guy, a real nice bloke, had the idea to remove all that shit with WD 40, which finally gave the color its old look. So wife, son and I worked hard to get the shit away..Basically we needed days, not just a few hours.

But then looking around in Sisaket, I found a good relay at a little shop, a real Bosch relais, made in Portugal. (These damn Germans freaks can't even produce their shit at home anymore?) Changed the relais and it's working well now.

If somebody's looking for a reliable relais, there's a place at Kantharalak road, called Laan Alhi, an old man who does practically all, from fixing TVs, to wiring copper into speakers.

I saw a nice clock, I now have under the roof, right where the mirror's attached, can't have such things in the hot sun. Then I couldn't believe my eyes, saw a Voltmeter, a real nice one, analog, with all possible measurements for about song reu only.

The clock was amazingly cheap. 80 baht !!!, couldn't believe it. Thailand is cheap, if you know where to go to. Got 270.005 km on the clock now, engine's still running like a clockwork.

I wouldn't sell my baby for 300 K, she protected me when this <deleted> Kathoey was trying to kill me when he's speeding and doing a red light.

And honestly speaking, I see so many other Pick Ups with open hoods everywhere at the side of the road with I don't know what problems.

<deleted>'s wring with all these new Fords and Mazdas? Their emblems are getting bigger and bigger, but the quality is getting shittier and shittier..

And even the plastic's getting more and more and cheaper....thumbsup.gif ..
