Travel Video of the Week: How Emirates Overhauls their A380

You have to love timelapse videos—especially ones set in airport hangars and inside airplanes that give us insight into what takes place behind closed doors in the airline industry. Kudos to Emirates for putting together this under-two-minute video of their A380 undergoing a 3-C Check, the largest maintenance check on any aircraft. In realtime, the overhaul takes 55 days but here, you can see it in less than two minutes.

About the same length of time it used to take when I was involved in the same deep strip on V bombers in the UK in the late 1970s.

Cool video, Thanks!

Words fail me .clap2.gifclap2.gifclap2.gif

Bet they can't make it 30m longer though...

Where is the overhaul facility and who are the maintenance technicians?

2 brilliant videos, thanks for sharing them !!!

(surely no one can fall out on this topic !!!)

I've yet to take my first flight on Emirates. With their route expansion plans, I might be on their A 380 soon though.

Wonderful time lapse videos! I've flown on Emirates A380 lots of times, both business class and economy and its always a brilliant experience! Highly recommend flying with Emirates to everyone!

I flew with Emirates in and out of Africa for 5 years. I used to fly with them 12 times a year, and in that time I only missed 2 flights because of them but they put me up in a hotel and got me on the next available flight. It was very often they would lose my bag on my way back to Bangkok, but always returned it to my home the next day. One time my bag didnt turn up until a few days later. When it did it was wrapped in that security film. I unwrapped it and found that both zips had been damaged, and personal belongings stolen. I emailed them several times and made several phone calls, but no response and no offer to pay for my items. I havnt flown with Emirates for 2 years now, and use Qatar instead.

I bet some lucky bugger found the £1 coin I dropped down the back of my seat last week.sad.png

It was your pound??? Lol thanks mate!

I got caught up in the airport closure in 2008. Emirates said that if I could get from CNX to Singapore they'd re-route me for free. Bearing in mind that I had the cheapest bucket shop ticket I thought that that was pretty good. They also fly from my local airport which saves me a 2 hour hack to Heathrow.

No need to thank me mate, the coin was a fake.

If you get caught spending it, you will end up in jail with all the other inmates vying to be your proctoligist.w00t.gif

Please, make my day.clap2.gif
