Despite reaching a deal with their employer on Tuesday to return to work, about 150 workers at Siem Reap International Airport were back striking yesterday.

Bun Sim from the Cambodian Tourism Industry Worker Trade Union said two days ago that negotiations had ended the strike. However, the workers yesterday held firm to earlier demands that two managers from the Cambodia Airport Management Services be replaced.

“We demand the company move them from Siem Reap,” Sim said.

The workers had first gone on strike mainly over issues dealing with a March collective-bargaining agreement.

Norinda Khek, communications director for Cambodia Airports, said yesterday that the company would not accept individual managers being targeted.

Deputy Provincial Governor Bun Tharith said the union had broken its promise to the authorities that strikers would return to work.
