apetley
My wife used to work for the local police and still has regularly contact with a couple of her friends there. One of the biggest complaints of the police officers is how easily anyone arrested and charged can get bail and when eventually jailed how quickly they are released usually by the annual amnesties.

Yes, given an opportunity to remove witnesses against you, exact some revenge, and perhaps finish up the job not quite completed. Bail for murder suspects, and the postponement of jail-terms while on appeal are hardly 'protecting the public' more a mind-boggling opportunity for more crimes or escape.. Greer
Dreadful story - surely to goodness, any murder suspect anywhere in the world should NOT be given the chance to go out and do it again. What the hell is wrong with justice - and this sadly is a worldwide fault - they do it all over the place, and the public just has to keep fingers crossed that they don't accidentally run into some crazed nut-job out on bail...
monkeycountry
As always Thailand has completely misunderstood the concept of bail, and of course refuses to change anything. As the saying goes in Thailand "if something is broken, why fix it?". How about those police officers who were convicted of murder, sentenced to death and subsequently released on bail, are they still running around? I assume they have not voluntarily turned up at the local police station and asked for their sentences to be carried out Edited December 2, 2014 by monkeycountry

Krataiboy
A real life Thai soap opera with all the usual ingredients - jealous husband, too much alcohol and a lethal weapon. Who needs TV when you can have the real thing round the clock?
