I want to stay thailaind

Featured Replies

Hi there

I am 32 and I am getting married next year to my thai wife to be I have been here a 1 half year I am coming to the end of my triple entry visa now

I don't really need a work visa as I have a very good income from England but maybe a work would be good just in case I get bored lol

Can anyone recommend what's best for me to do please

You can get a 2 entry tourist visa in Laos that would give you a total stay of 6 months. After that if need be you could get another one.

After you get married you can get a one year extension of stay or multiple entry non-o visas.

If you can find a job that is another option you have. That would also take care of your need for a visa and/or extension of stay.

Thanks for the help when you say I can get 2 entry how would I apply for that Thai immigration at Laos before I arrived?

You apply for the 2 entry tourist visa at the Thai embassy consular section in Vientiane or the consulate in Savannakhet.

You wrote that your 3 entry visa is ending soon. Have you gotten the 30 day extension yet of your last 60 day entry.

Do you speak Thai yet? In not, start taking classes and get an ED visa

That may not be the best idea anymore, because it has become costly, time consuming, and hassling at time of getting extensions of stay.

Many schools are still offering courses at the same price. It is time consuming because leaning a language is difficult. And the extension of stay problems with ED visas are being over-hyped.

I don't think it's anymore as you say, but anyone can form his opinion just by reading recent reports.

What am I saying that is not correct? My school is still offering year long packages at the same price. This is true.

The vast majority of ED visa holders get their extensions. This is true. I have yet to see a verifiable case where someone going to class and putting in minimal effort is denied an extension.

Reading random and anonymous "report" alone is not always a good way to form and opinion about something..... Probably should do the ground work as well.

The vast majority of the ED visa stuff posted here over the past few weeks has been utter nonsense.......

You might want to double check that it is the still the same. They might be offering the same number of hours for the same price but it will not be enough to get a total stay of one year.

The MOE has sent out notices to schools that they will only approve a stay of 6 months for 200 hours of study. To get a year you need 400 hours. This has been confirmed and copies of the notice posted on this forum.

ED visa, would be easier, and wont get bored, relaxing, lucky bugger..

An ED-visa would certianly not be easier and requires one to leave every year for a new ED-visa. Not to mention the costs involved, which would be more than 50,000 a year.

Yes, but that does not mean all the schools will be charging more! Most schools have full time teachers that are on site all the time. Many schools let you come and go as often as you would like and don't confine you to "200" hours of study only anyway.

My school has always had an open door and I can come study 25 hours a week if I want to. Therefore not every school will be taking advantage of the change by charging students more because more hours are required to maintain the visa. Sure, some might... But not all. This is why you need to do the footwork and find a good school.

To be clear... My school is now offering 400 hours for the price of 200. I don't believe with all the competition, mine is the only one doing this.

Hi no not yet it runs out 8 jan then extend 30 day

You can get the extension now without losing any days. If you wait until the last minute it will put you in the middle of the New Year holidays and crowds at immigrations which will be an unnecessary hassle.

If you get the extension now, they will add 30 days onto the Jan 8 expiration of your current permission to stay.

He can study Thai without getting an Ed visa, especially since he should soon be eligible for an extension of stay based on marriage, which would permit him to find employment or study if and when he feels like it.

It can't be utter nonsense if all different schools from all over the country (BKK, Chaingmai & Phuket) have told students this, and the info they got was from meeting with immigration face to face. Unless immigration is spreading "utter nonsense" just for the sake of it.....

Which school is this?

I people are truly interested in learning Thai and live in BKK, they can PM me for the school name. I am not going to post it here just to satisfy curiosity.

Insanely inflated price. Many options still available for under 20,000.

By the way, can anyone even confirm a school has doubled the price? Seems like lots of are just assuming that's what they will do. However, I disagree because they will lose customers. Too much competition.
